I've been taking the regional train to work for 4 weeks and there have already been 2 suicides Last week, 06/08/06 a 17 year old high school junior stepped right in front of a train for no apparent reason. I went on her myspace page and now cannot get her out of my head
Yesterday, a man was laying on the tracks. The conductor say him 150 yards away, but couldn't stop in time Besides that, the train has been late at least once a week causing me to take an earlier train to avoid being late to work Suicide is tragic and my heart goes out to them, but why do people feel the need to effect hundreds of people in an instant. What happened to people committing suicide at home or in their cars Some of my co-workers are so unsensitive, calling them selfish

2 people committed suicide during my time on the train Not knowing what had happened I happened to look out the window where we had stopped to see a cut up body laying all over the tracks, headless. It's sad that people want to kill themselves. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Did you just start taking the train, Blackbuddy? If so, maybe they're protesting your suddenly being around more often.
Just trying to lighten you up. ...But in all seriousness, I understand what you mean. To have to experience that --twice -- must be AWFUL. Many suicides, though, are aimed at hurting others on some level. Sometimes these people have experienced such pain in their lives that they want to exact a sort of psychological revenge on others by doing it publicly. The whole "I'll show them!" thing. A few years ago,I was taking the train downtown. I was going to get new clothes cuz I was flying out to see my man.
A guy parked his car on the tracks and he was killed instantly. I was devastated. And it was all I could think about. I hadn't seen my guy in a month but all I could think about was a stranger. "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

I couldn't stop thinkin about that body and the worst part was a coworkers son was killed just a few months before by the train and I couldn't stop thinkin about him or that person. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

If you are going to kill yourself, you should do it in such a way as not to impose upon others. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

If you are going to kill yourself, you should do it in such a way as not to impose upon others. That's exactly what they were pissed about, the fact it was incoviencing their schedule and the engineer had to take a leave of absence

If someone is in that much pain, why should they continue to go through that misery just to benefit others? I just think they should do it a home or somewhere where hundreds of commuters won't be affected. I couldn't get this girl out of my mind for personal reasons and found her on myspace. Now, I can't get her face out of my head [Edited 6/14/06 7:51am]

Today, a co-worker on the bus was joking with somneone else saying "You're low. You're lower than the girl who got hit by the train. She's burning in Hell."

Unfortunately its pretty common. I took the train to work to downtown Chicago for 4 years and we were stopped because either suicide or accidently hitting someone at least 5 times during this time. As I can remember 3 were suicides and 2 were people running across the tracks while the gates where down.

soo sorry for you jan.. Well, I didn't see any body parts. They train that leaves 30 minutes before mine is the one that hit the young girl. My train was in route when it happened and they had to stop at a certain point until the investigation was over. I, strangely, had decided to go in an hour later and take a later train than usual. When I got to the train station, people were leaving and someone told me the trains weren't moving. One of my co-workers who rides the train called me and told me what happened. I had to get gas and drive in, I still made it on time. They said she walked right in front of the train as it was coming, but there are some things that don't add up This last one was an Amtrak train that hit a man that was laying on the tracks. The only effect it had on me was the people on earlier trains didn't get picked up so my train, going home, was packed like crazy

Selfish bastards. And yes I do mean it. Those poor train drivers. Haven't these people heard of hara kiri or seppuku?
