Looks great.
Also, Canon makes some great cameras if you're looking to buy something for $1000 or less. And be among her cloudy trophies hung.

I'm just trying to find reviews. It seems it's very similar to the C643. Can't find anything on dpreview.com, which is where I usually go.
6MP is more than enough, and $200 is not expensive. I'll try to find out more. What exactly do you want if for? I mean, I bought mine for its macro abilities. Are you after that, or a decent zoom function, or something else? Or just a decent all round camera? There are some real camera boffins on this site, but where are they??

I bought my camera off ebay. eBay is wonderful as long as you know how to use it. As for that camera you are thinking of buying, I would say if you have a camera now that is useable, you should wait. The reason it is going onsale is because the models are changing and in 9 months that 200 dollar camera won't be worth 100 in resale. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

I can find reviews for the C643 and the V603 but not the one Sammi is looking at. The reviews of those camera, which appear to be very similar, are all reasonably positive, awarding around 6-7 out of 10 or 3 out of 5.

You know, you may think the more expesive semipro cameras are so much more expensive then the box type. But honestly, I got me a nice Digital Rebel off ebay for about 600 dollars a year back. It's still worth about the same price. If I was to caculate how much money I saved because the Digital Rebel has rechargable batteries rather then disposable double A's, I would guess 5 dollars a pack times 2-3 packs a month over 12 months? Basicly my Digital rebel besides taking better photographs, and keeping it's value also saved me an estimated 150 dollars in extra payments on batteries. But how many cameras don't take rechargables AA's or the slimline rechargable ones?

My sisters swear by Canon and it remains one (or the? ) of the most popular brands of digital cameras in the US. They have a wide range, from the more inexpensive ones to the pricey ones.
My boyfriend's brother switched from an SLR Canon to a Canon Elph so they must be doing something good, as both boys are camera whores... I have a Panasonic FZ-5 which I absolutely, absolutely swear by. My first digital camera (bought way back in 2002!) was also Panasonic. It was kind of buggy, as digital cameras were just becoming popular back then, so I said I'd never get another. But when I was in the market for a new camera last fall, the new Panasonics were the best (to me, anyway). The Lumix lens make ALL the difference. It's kind of big, but it has amazing zoom, and the enormous lens = incredibly crisp photos. I drool everytime I look at it and I've had it going on 6 months now! Anyway... back to your question. I chose a 12x optical zoom over huge megapixels (mine has 5.0) because I think zoom is very, very important. My first camera had 2.0 zoom and I fucking couldn't stand it. And you don't need a lot of megapixels unless you're gonna be blowing up photos poster size, so anything above 5.0 didn't make much difference to me. The camera you're looking at should definitely come with all the cords & shit, but you'll probably need to invest in a good camera bag as well as a bigger memory card. Mine is 1.0 gig, I got it for around $60. good luck sammi! [Edited 6/10/06 20:49pm] I mean, like, where is the sun?

thanks yall
im gunna go with it its the most affordable one, and all the others that have less megapixels are for less BUT they have less optical zoom so

In the end I got this, the Olympus SU500UZ, mainly for its macro abilities and because there was a particularly good deal on it. It also has 10x optical zoom and can shoot nice video at 30fps. That Panasonic is much smaller than you think it'll be from pics. Very cute, incredibly small considering the 12X zoom, and impressive pics when I had a chance to play with it and test it out. Sometimes I still want that camera.

sammi i would question whether it actually has 6MP...
when i was shopping for one someone here pointed out on one of those review sites that sometimes they do a little mathamatical trickery and say it's 6 when really it's 3.2 or something... i say this because i haven't seen a 6 MP camera for that price... and i am a bargain hunter i would agree with natsume that optical zoom is tres important but if you research this one and it's a good deal for the money then go for it! and enjoy taking pictures

It could drive you crazy trying to find a top notch all round camera for that price, but ultimately for what most people use them for, there are lots of good inexpensive ones out there that usually do a decent job.
