Should I sell my comics

I wanna pay off my debt as soon as possible. My collection is not worth much. Maybe 100 or 200 hundred realistically. Although book value would be close to 1,000. http://www.comicspricegui...efault.asp I'm going to catalog them on here.

I've toyed with the idea of selling off my little colection, too. I think I'm going to hold onto mine for a few years yet, though.

Absolutely and positively not. Even though there is a monetary figure on my collection, it is worth far more than that to me. There are books that got me through my father beating my mother. There are books that helped me associate with feelings. Stories that I absolutely enjoyed. Not a chance in hell. One day I will give them to my son.

hmmm I'm looking at this Wolverine #1 going for $55.00 and thinking I think that's the best I have. Spawn #1 is worth nothing.....

lil,
The one thing to remember is that if Wolverine #1 is going for $55.00, that is the price you should expect to buy it for. When a dealer buys the book from you, his purchase price (for a book in Mint/Near Mint condition) is usually around half of that value.

If your collection is small, you might be better off selling individual books, or small sets (story arcs), via e-bay.

I've given thought to selling the 35+ long boxes of comics I have... But like, Jersey said, they're not just physical books; certain books bring me back to different periods in my life and I feel as though I would be getting rid of memories as well.

First things first: get a complete inventory of your comics and grade them the best you know how.

Then, put the lot up on ebay for what you think it's worth at minimum. See if you get any takers.

Some things to consider:

If you have an inventory of your books, you'll be able to track down the individual issues that you want back.

If the comics are just taking up space, then you probably will want to get rid of them.

I went through a HUGE culling of my comics at one point in my life. I'm now down to a very small personal stash of comics that I still pull out every now and then. A larger stash of 3 boxes are stored in an attic, and the rest I sold for a pretty good chunk of change.

The money came and went, but the memories are always there whether I had the comics or not.

Also, I just bought my entire Fantastic Four run back (including the ultra rare Vol 1 issues I was missing) on a DVD that Marvel sells. It's not nearly the same as holding the paper in my hand, but the stories are the same and nowadays, that's all I look back to.

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

Yes! Sell off the collection.

Dude you just brought back some bad memories. neutral

Years ago, my Dad worked for 2 of the largest advertising firms in the city.
A few of their comic book accounts that I remember were DC, Dell & Harvey.

For years he would bring home stacks of the latest editions before they hit the stands.
At one point he stopped because my brother, sister and I would always fight over who got the Superman comics first.

it's unhealthy to think about "where we might have been" because in thinking that we are disatified in where it is we are at because of an idealistic perception of "how things might have been". "How things might have been" seldom ever take into affect all the posable conditions needed to be met to achieve the idealistic happy ending.

If you're really serious about doing this, go thru your collection and see if you have any issues that collectors would be interested in. Then check out this website www.cgccomics.com and see about sending those issues in to get graded. Graded comics fetch more than non-graded ones these days.
