I honestly didnt think there were still people who hadnt seen it! Exceot in, you know, developing countries and whatnot...

I think sitcoms are terrible now. The writing's awful and most people in them aren't funny. It gets worse - I've seen one episode of Seinfeld (it was a'ight), not a single episode of E'erybody Lubs Raymond or Will & Grace.

I never got the appeal of Friends either. I tried watching a few episodes, but they were completely un-funny to me. lol Seinfield has it's funny moments from the few shows I've seen, but I think it's very overrated. If George's constant bad luck wasn't in almost every episode, then I don't think too many people would like it. I avoided ELR for the longest, but one night out of boredom my roommate was watching it, and we became kinda hooked on it for a little while. This was when I was still in the dorms and had to share a room and t.v with someone, so really I was kinda forced into ELR. lol I grew tired of it fast. I actually like Will & Grace...for now. I wasn't a fanatic when it first aired, but I've been watching the re-runs on Lifetime. I think eventunally I'll grow tired of that one too because they're already running the gay jokes into the ground. lol

I like Will and Grace but only because of Jack and Karen. But I suppose you wouldn't even know who they are because you've never seen it. lol

I've actually started to watch The King of Queens, pretty much by accident, because they started putting it on late at night here in Holland. I always just wrote it off before as another lame WB-type sitcom, but it's actually really funny. nod

It was just an observation about how it's listed on CNN's list of top stories. confused And how I don't think that their new baby if headline news. I'm sure there are much worse, important, or newsworthy things going on than this.

Anyway, they're not on the top list anymore right now.

Pitt and Jolie sell baby photos
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
The couple recently donated money for maternity equipment in Namibia
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are selling the rights to photographs of their baby to raise money for charity.

The couple's daughter, Shiloh Nouvel, was born on 27 May in Namibia.

The "highly anticipated" photos - which are expected to fetch millions of dollars - will be distributed by Getty Images, the photo agency said.

The couple said they "celebrated" the birth of their daughter - but wanted to help less fortunate newborn children in the developing world.

A joint statement said: "We recognise that two million babies born every year in the developing world die on the first day of their lives.

"These children can be saved, but only if governments around the world make it a priority."

Hospital donation

Marc Kurschner, a senior vice president of photo agency Wire Image, said prices for exclusive photos of celebrity families had soared in the last few years.

Getty did not reveal details of the licensing deal, when the pictures were taken or how publication rights were being offered to newspapers and magazines.

The couple recently said they would donate $300,000 (£160,000) towards maternity equipment in Namibia.

The money will be spent on treating new babies at state hospitals in two towns in the southern African country.

Jolie and Pitt were linked romantically soon after filming Mr and Mrs Smith in 2005.

Pitt, 42, divorced actress Jennifer Aniston last October, while Jolie - star of the Tomb Raider movies - was previously married to actors Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller.

Jolie, 30, already has two adopted children - Cambodian-born son Maddox, 4, and daughter Zahara.

Last year Pitt announced his intention to become adoptive father to Jolie's children. wink

This is yet another sign of the decline of the American media. This is not news this is entertainment but one would never know because it's on a main news outlet.

The lines between journalism and entertainment are blurred and I fear for the democracy of this country because of it.

oh give me a break...lol. People have always cared about celebrities, from all of Marilyn Monroe's husbands to Elvis, etc.

I think its more "newsworthy" if they spoke more of the donations given to the hospital AND the fact that tourism is up for that nation when IS a good thing for that part of the world.

Give me a break, isn't there a channel called "E" for "entertainment" and doesn't "CNN" stand for "Cable News Network"?

I didn't say people don't care about celebrities, what I said is that entertainment journalism and news journalism should be 2 different things.

I can't tell you the last time "E" did a report on Iraq, maybe because they wouldn't as that's not entertainment. CNN must not have enough news to talk about. lol

Edit - I agree some positive news would also be welcome but just as long as its news (like your examples).

There's different type of "news", political, health, legal, AND entertainment. So because ppl are interested it becomes newsworthy. "E" is a speciality channel and CNN covers all aspects of NEWS. I thought that was just a given.

I have no idea why they are on the frontpage of CNN.com. For the most part, I couldn't give two strokes and a pump about celebrities lives. Mine is too fucked up to care that much about somebody else's.

Besides, the media ought to be ashamed of themselves for the way they present this stuff to us. It's no wonder this is what society as a whole cares about.
