I fucked up my first memory card by doing that and had no idea it might be a problem. I still don't know why it should be.

(although the sign at my store had them regular at $72)

I have no Samsung software or anything for mine. i think the card reader is just a safer way of doing this

Just plug one end to the camera and the other end to a usb port, turn on the camera and a wizard will come up. Follow the wizard and then your pics should go into your "mypictures" folder. Don't forget you will also need a memory card for another $50 or so for a reasonable sized one. 32 mb will hold about 8 pics.

Fauxie said: Whatever camera you buy for under $400, if you read reviews they'll always find one or two clear weaknesses. It could drive you crazy trying to find a top notch all round camera for that price, but ultimately for what most people use them for, there are lots of good inexpensive ones out there that usually do a decent job. you're so right. I have a few complaints about my current camera, but they are FAR less than my old, and I am still very, very happy with it. No camera you get is going to be perfect. I have a friend who bought a $1,000 Canon SLR camera but she hates its guts - so it's not always about price, either! I love Olympus cameras, too - I have an omega 2 film camera from the 70s! - but I went with Panasonic because of that darn lens. It just makes such a difference. I think I ended up buying it for $325 or so. Not bad, considering it'll last me a good couple of years. It makes me giddy you love my camera, too! Fauxie, you have great taste. I mean, like, where is the sun?

Just remember that you'll have to purchase rechargable batteries and the charger for them as well.
Another thing you should make note of is how big the memory card is that comes with the camera. They always include the smallest memory card with cameras these days. See if you can get them to throw in a bigger memory card for you.

Fauxie, you have great taste. $325 is great for that camera. I'd probably have bought the Panasonic if it'd been the same price as my Olympus. I do like my camera though. Excellent macro to within a couple of cms. Wow, first your cheeks and now your camera too. I'm just all over you at the moment. I make no apologies though.
