P.S. I saw Angela Bassett last Friday at the Farmers Market in L.A. Just passing through. Damn, she's beautiful.
We were standing at the same booth and the clerk didn't know which of us to help, so I turned and said, "I'm ready. I'm ready. And I know what I want." For those of you who don't know, that's my favorite line from "What's Love Got to do with It?" when Tina is ready to go solo before her 80's comeback. And actually, that didn't happen at all. But I did she her walking through. And she is definitely beautiful. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I want to see movies with her in the starring role, I saw the Tina Turner one, Stella got her Groove back, waiting to exhale, that futuristic one I can't think of the name right now. What else has she been in?

She's one of those actors that deserve tons of oscars but some how they are never casted in good movies. Too bad cuz she's a real talent. I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

She's an underutilized actress, and I never wanna make her cross - she'd beat my ass with those developed arm muscles. My shit looks like twigs next to hers.

Angela seems like she'd be great to have dinner with. I'm jealous Chris. I know you don't get star struck. I do.

It is new so it'll probably take a while to hit Australia And YES, she is criminally underutilized in Hollywood It's bad enough they lose interest in actresses over 40, but when you're over 40 & Black you're really in trouble Nonetheless I still keep my hopes up that we'll see her do more. She's fantastic & beautiful

(we have to wait a while before movies hit our shores ) yeah, like Calhoun said it may take a minute. It also didn't do that well at the box office here I did write Starbucks and thanked them and Laurence Fishburne for producing such a great movie. The cutest thing was watching the kids spell stuff as they were leaving the theater. It really is a GREAT movie as far as the message is sends out. Of course, I think ATL and 50 cents movie made more money

I think XMen came out soon after too - I remember asking my sis if she took my nephew yet & they said, "No, we're going to see XMen!!!" And yes, I bet PLENTY of Black folks flocked to ATL & the 50 garbage quicker than they did Akeelah, it's a damn shame

I loved how they pointed at education issues and race issues and cultural difference without really pushing it. I thought it was in OUR best interest to at least let Starbucks know that the movie was appreciate and don't stop backing these types of movies. I think all school aged kids should see it.
