Aw, that is so lovely. There's nothing like a good du-dump-du-dump-dump in the morning. These are moments to cherish....along with your morning coffee and newspaper.

not to be too vivid, but it was one of those times i was really happy that i keep a tub of moist booty wipes on hand.

I'm a booty wipes man myself. Yey!

I was going to say something gross about rimming and tasting someone's previous nights dinner.....but that would be gross. And no, THANK GOD, that has never happened to me.

My husband & I went for Thai food one night. He got Red Curry and asked for it HOT- which he always does but this place was REALLY hot!
Mine was intense too- think I got green curry..
It was so hot that it made us sick to our stomachs- that has never happened to ne before I usually like it really hot but this was way too hot.. sickening hot..
I felt like I was going to vomit from the heat..

the absolute WORST experience i ever had with hot food was at a dinner party, where a friend of mine garnished our dishes with one of those little plum tomato looking green peppers...i thought it was cute, so i popped it into my mouth, and OH. MY. GOD.

i really thought i was going to have to go to the emergency room. lol

there were tears and snot and drool running down my face and i emptied two quarts of milk straight from the carton and i was STILL in pain from it.

and i don't have to go into detail about the extremely memorable restroom moments the next day, i'm sure... disbelief

i'd say the hottest thing i've had to eat thus far was a mouthful of horseradish--when i was about 17 or so my dad had went to get some take-out (forgot exactly what he got). anyway, dad came up to me and had a little container of this stuff. he was like "here, eat some of this!" i was like "what is it?" dad's like "just try it, it's good." i got a good amount of the stuff, ate it and...omfgcookedomfg burnt the hell outta my mouth!!! i'm sitting there, spitting it out and drinking tons of water and all the while dad's laughing at me and going, "that's whatcha get for being greedy!" hah!

my dad's from louisiana and is an excellent cook--i was brought up on stuff like gumbo and jambalaya, which he always made super-spicy (dad's had to tone down on the spice a little bit as he's gotten older, since his tummy/bowels can't handle it as well as he once did), so i'm not adverse to hot foods. just a few days ago i went to lotus-a-go-go (vietnamese take-out joint close to my house) and got some curried veggie fried rice for dinner. nummmmm. drool3

Um, I should try to make this thread useful. redface

What's the hottest (as in spicy) food you've ever eaten? Did you hurt yourself? Would you do it again? ANSWER ME!!!!

Meanwhile, I'm gonna go blow fire at my cat until my mouth cools off. woot!

When I was in school in GA ("AAARRRRRMMMMYYYY TRAINING SIR!!!"....Stripes) there was this little joint me and my buds hung out at....the LimeLight Cafe...and one of their specialties was making the absolute hottest chicken wing ever....slathered in a concoction of chipolte and Dave's Insanity Sauce and God knows what else....that shit was HOT!!! I took a bit of the sauce on the tip of my pinkie and my tongue instantly swelled up....and my mouth burned for about 36 hours.....IT HURT LIKE A S.O.B.!!!! and hell no I wouldn't do it again.....

Yeah. . . you know those dried peppers that you sometimes get in "Asian" food? They're prolly an inch or so long, bright red. . . not the hottest ever, but pretty hot.

My mom dared me to eat some, and offered ten bucks a pop. I think I ate three? Man, it hurt for a long time, but. . . you know. . . 30 bucks. . . whatchagonnado. . . mr.green

ooh, i like those peppers. i had to condition myself, though. nod

I have mistakenly eaten slithers of red chili in somtam quite a few times thinking it was tomato. eek

Dried chili that Thais put in their noodle soup is pretty hot. I don't know how they can eat anything with all that stuff in there. How can you still taste the food?

Get me some NASA food tubes, some Tang and i'm good.

Some years ago a Korean friend took me to dinner where I experienced...

ooh, I love kimchi. I always get it as a side dish. The type at the Japanese restaurant is not as hot as the way Koreans do it though. Mmmmm... love that fishy misu soup too. Ok, now I'm hungry.

I'll keep that in mind. wink

Also, the backstory of how traditionally the cabbage is buried underground in jars and allowed to ferment over time, only added to the acidic build up that was rapidly disintegrating my innards. ill

WHOOOEEE!!! woot!

i love love LOVE some kimchi!!!

i recently heard someone mention kimchi fried rice, which i really want to try (and, oddly enough, ties in with the original post on this thread biggrin ), but i love it any ol' way. i don't think i could go with it as a main entree though. it's more of a side dish for me.

i love korean food, though - bimbimbop is one of my favorite dishes, especially when i'm lucky enough to find a place that serves it in a sizzling hot bowl (dolsot style). there's a place in the financial district in NYC that serves the best korean food i've ever had...i wish i could remember the name of the place, and i hope it's still around...i haven't been back to those parts since before 9/11.

but back to kimchi - good stuff. if you have occasion to try it again, ask for the mild version.
