I had a very similar coming out exp like you did. The guy I was seeing (first bf sorta...) dragged me to the Horizons youth group kicking and screaming! I hated it! This was not me and I was not them! As soon as it was over I practically ran out of there. I was scared for the most part that going there would mean I was a screaming nelly queen, like the some of the other youths I saw (of course the loudest and boldest get the notice).

But I came back the next week. Give it another try. Another new person approached me and we became friends. And I went ever since then (well until I was too old to go). I made many many friends and came out nicely. It was a very enriching experience. I even started a newsletter for the youth center...I was that involved.

Since I have thought about volunteering at a gay youth center, because I think that I can give the gift back. I like kids and I listen well and I think I am well adjusted enough to give back the gift.

So glad you are sharing your experiences with us. It's orgers like yourself that makes this place MUCH MORE that just a website where we discuss Prince.

that you went to the center and the guy didn't work there anymore.

Thing is, it MUST be where you are meant to be because even with that unexpected hiccup, you are still going to be there doing what you were meant to do and what you will be exceptional at.
