talk about music industry today

hey all, I just wanted to comment on the music industry. It's driving me insane.
Now these days it is about $, thinking bout it now was it always like that?

You have got labels hyping up this and that saying they r talented songwriters as well as artists but if you look at the "lyrics' they really isn't any substance. It's all bout dancers and stage shows: imk not sayin that visuals are not important and that they cannot contribute to the preformance, but these days it is all just 4 show.....damn. I wrote a "rap" song bout this a looooong time ago, it was a time when i tried to write like everyone else. sad man 4 real.

vent here!

Yes, it always was like that. The difference is the artist development is nearly nil, and the payolla is through the roof.

"Music Business" is a contradiction in terms. Music is something that's in the moment -- something that's enjoyed right now, and then its gone. Songs are written out of passion and a desire to relate a story.

When you force it to try and make it a commodity, you kill it instantly.

There maybe people in the industry who can "write hits" - but I guarantee you they're getting their rocks off first and foremost.

Dig?

haha yes hun. I just can't believe that the suits ( label heads) hype up peeps and say that they have talent as a writer and vocalist and that they can belt a song when they dont/cant.
