From what I understand the "Temp" folder is exactly that - Temporary files.

basically if you are running / installing a program Windows plonks files in there whilst it uses them, normally software will remove its own temp files however not all of them. So it is generally safe to delete all the files in a Temp folder. Sometimes you will get a warning saying "Windows cannot delete this file it is being used by another program" or something along that line, don't worry about it, basically it means that there is a program running on yor PC and it is ..... Well.....using that file !!!

obviously if you are unsure then use the "Disk Cleanup" program in your system tools. This will clear most crap of your hard drive. biggrin

If you are on windows XP the correct location would be:

C:\Documents and settings\(your computer name)\local settings\temp

also, in order to keep your windows a bit healthier deleting all files in the temporary internet folder would be wise too - This is the same directory as above but obviously the temp would be temporary internet folder.

If it is in your "bin" and your PC is still running it is safe to assume your PC isnt missing them and it will be ok to empty the bin.

C:\Documents and settings\(your computer name)\local settings\temp

C:\windows\temp

I can say empty the above 2 without worry.

As I cannot see your PC I dare not recommend what to do with the E: Temp folder, however theoretically a Temp folder is purely for storing temporary files so it should be ok to remove them.

Do you know how to set a system restore point up? If so, set one up and then remove the files, if any problems arise you can restore your PC back to the point prior to removal.

are the 2 in C: the same path as what I gave earlier?? (Presuming you have XP)

If so, it is safe to do so. As I pointed out earlier the Temp folder is purely for storing temp files, unless you have specifically instructed a program to install there.
