Photoshop help

I'm terrible with photoshop...I know some of you here are great at it so can ya help me? I want to paste my friend's head in another picture. First I have to make it into black and white and then I can plop it on. How do I do this? I tried to use the clone stamp but it says I need to define an area first and I'm not sure how to do that confuse

If any of ya are bored and can help me I'd appreciate it!

Imago

to define an area, you sould alway s choose a spot right near where you want to use the clone stamp. Then Press the "ALT" key and left click your mouse on that stop. It will then use that spot as a starting point to clone the area you want to do it.

But that's not how you paste heads on other bodies though shrug

CarrieLee, you are not very clear as to what it is you want to do. At least, I am getting a diffrent feeling then the other did about what you are asking.

It would seem you want to turn a picture into black&white so that you can ad the face, but your program is telling you that there is no area defined so that you can change it to B&W.

In your menu bar there should be a choice "selection" or something like that. I believe what you are looking for is there, and that you want to select all. This will let the program know you want to make the Picture B&W.

if this is what you were looking for, good, if not, please rephrase your request.

Lol, I'm trying to take my friend's head and put it on the karate kid's head instead! So the karate kid photo is black and white, Ronnie's head is in color. Once I turn Ron into black and white, I need to know how to stick him on the other picture!

I'm reallly bad at photoshop..sorry!

If you want to convert the image to Black and White, from the menu bar at the top go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation, and drag the saturation bar all the way to the left.

If you want to cut and paste someone's head from one picture to another, just use the Polygonal Lasso Tool, and perhaps set the feathering to like 1 or 2, to soften the edges a bit. Once you get the part selected, go to Edit > Copy. Then go to the image where you want to paste the head and choose Edit > Paste. The head should be on it's own layer, so you can move it around to get it positioned just right.

You can also resize the head by going to Edit > Free Transform. If you hold down your shift key while resizing it, it will keep the proportions intact while scaling it.

When cutting off your friends head, I would go with the pixel erase method. Some would say you should freehand cut out his head because it is quicker, but I have found that you get a better end product if you take the time to erase all the unwanted pixels leaving you with the part of the image you wanted to copy and paste.

Also set the eraser for 20% opecness to gentlily smooth in the pasted head.
