All in all Ebay is a good nay GREAT place to find things. One thing that gets me is when no pic is posted of actual item...or when you get a "rare" item that isn't rare at all.

Here's my way of "beating" the system. I "watch" items. I have a basic price in mind as to how much I am willing to buy an item for. And then wait until 5 min before the auction ends and will snap it up last min if the price is right. I'm a bastard...I know. But it's the only way I won't be roped into getting an item at expensive price. It also curbs my spending, as I have not bid and if I haven't bid, I can't spend. SOmetimes I find an item cheaper during an auction of another I am waiting on. The only draw back to my system is when I forget that an auction has ended or if it does while I am asleep.

your "system" is a well know one across ebay. It is known as snipping the bid. Like snipper, a person who watches and shoots at the best time. They have programs that you can use that will insert your bid price at the last posable second of the auction. This would help with your sleeping problem.

Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

So would one say I'm being "Snipish"?

What program could help me during those dang European hours?

Even better, use Auction Sniper (http://www.auctionsniper.com) to snipe items in the last 5 seconds. I use this when I can't be at my desk at auction's end (ex. it ends at 3AM) or I don't trust the internet connection. Does it all for you lol

Can you tell I love eBay? boxed

Does anyone here buy things from Ebay? For those of you that do, I have a question. I’ve noticed over the years that the price of certain items always seem to be bid “upward” by people with a “0” rating. This leads me to believe that certain people who are selling items on Ebay, have created these fake user names with the express purpose of bidding “up” the price. I’ve also notice that most of the time, the user with the “0” rating almost never wins the item but they are always around to drive up the price for the real bidders.

Any thoughts on this?

well I have a friend who had a 0 rating bidder get her price right up and she got her hopes up and this person did not contact her so she put the bad mark on him and he disputed it saying SHE did not contact him. rolleyes I think there are some dodgy folks out there with strange agendas. confused

That's got to suck having a minus feedback rating. I've dealt with a lot of newbies and though they sometimes are a bit ditzy, they mean well and I always give them time or advice to work everything out.

I've had to walk people through the steps to pay via Paypal before, but they've all been honest so far and paid like they are supposed to.

I have had to do this many times as well. I do not mind and more importantly, the person you help more often than not will come back to you for more stuff.

Curse those non-paying bidders! mad

Still, there's nothing like the sweet smell of a NARU'D (no longer a registered user) buyer in the morning. evillol

Actually, most people pay pretty promptly, but I don't get those people who actually send you messages about items showing how interested they are, about combined shipping and stuff, who then purchase the items but don't pay for a week. shrug
