The Count Of Monte Cristo

Is this book any good?

I just bought it becuase I keep seeing it everywhere. I'm not sure why, so I said--fuckit, I'll read it. What the hell.

But this bitch is longer than Ocean's growing list of org victims.

Can anyone (without giving away the plot) shed some light on this book?

Also, what books would you recommend to me that are just plain great story telling? I would preffer literary greats over up-and-coming unkowns.

The movie was a classic, along the lines of gulliver's travels .. it would make for an interesting comparison

THIS book is great storytelling!

It's wonderful!

It's long, but Dumas' narrative style propels you along... nod

It's about vengeance...

I once had the opportunity to buy a complete set of Dumas' works (there must have been twenty nicely bound volumes altogether...not worth a lot but in great shape), but I was selling some other books during a move and it seemed silly to me at the time to trade in two boxes of books for a set of different books.

I regret that decision now more than anything in my life.

I frequently look back on that day and weep bitter tears.

biggrin

I was joking.

She wrote two good books: The Vampire Lestat, and Ramses the Damned.
Other than that, it's boring ass soft core porn. lol

I could cry salty tears
Where have I been all these years?
Little wow, tell me now
How long has this been goin' on?

There were chills up my spine
And some thrills I can't define
Listen sweet, I repeat
How long has this been goin' on?

Oh, I feel that I could melt
Into heaven I'm hurled
I know how Columbus felt
Finding another world

Kiss me once, then once more
What a dunce I was before
What a break, for heaven's sake
How long has this been goin' on?

(spoken)
Kiss me twice, once more, thrice, make it four

What a break, for heaven's sake
How long has this been goin' on?

cry

Anne Rice's Feast of all Saints is good. And Queen of the Damned before it was made into a movie. Two different stories.
