yay england!! woot!

oh puhlease.....don't pretend you know all about soccer just because you're wearing the three lions on a shirt somewhere in Nebraska.....England, with all its stars, should be ashamed of their performance today! Ofcourse, the two goals were good, but there should have been at least seven of them.....and not just in the tail of the game!

I would like to see England play Spain, Czech Republic or, yes, Holland.....they'll lose from Germany fo sho!

To be fair, trinidad got the lock down good on defence. And england never win by more then 2 goals. Though of course today was different, but usually, when we score, we then pull back and usually turn into a 4-5-1 (which is so negative and awfully boring to watch). Second half, we were alot, lot better. Not as good as we should be, but its promising. Italy pull back too (infact, its typical for some europeans teams to do this)

We got the midfield, and our defense is good ( John terry played a blinder, even if it was only trinidad LOL) but owen is lacking bigtime and rooney is gonna make a big difference.

Of course, we do rely on rooney, and we shouldnt have to, but he is one of the best in the world. Compared to excellent players like lampard, gerrard, beckham etc... he is world class. Beckham is world class at dead ball plays and his passing is second to none, but he is so awful at getting past players, it really lets him down. Also, no skill on the ball either, and his pace is lacking bittime too. Still, even croach did OK (despite missing perhaps the easiest goal on earth, which woulda been an awesome goal, thanx to the set up._

Here's a question that I wanted to find out.
Who are the commentators on your games?
In Australia, for the big matches, we have Martin Tyler doing it. For the Australian match we had Aussie guys talking, so the talking got a bit excited towrds the end of that match. lol

Japan were robbed LOL. U got a fluke on that one. Though iam looking forard to ur match against Brazil. It'll be very interesting. Japan deserved a penalty around the 80th minute. What a con.

On the commentators front, BBC's main man is John Motson. I forget the ITV one, he's good too.

rolleyes talk to the hand

you're still a hater

and i just finished watching the game.... england could have done MUCH better during the first half... but the last 30 minutes of the game were AMAZING!!! excited

Crouch was shameful, but redeemed himself when he finally headed one into the net after.... what?... his 100th try or something? that save by Terry was such a heart stopper!! good job on him!! and the goal by Gerrard was BEAUTIFUL!!!

Trinidad did an amazing job, and they should definitely be proud of their performance! nod They just couldn't take it all the way.... much like england the first half. confused

anyways, i don't CARE what you say aksel... the three lions on a shirt are advancing to the next round. jealous? wink

from what i understand in reading the history of the game..... the professional organization of football was started in england. so if scots had it way back then.... what was their problem? why didn't they start something sooner?

Funny how the saudi VS Tunisia match was alot more rewarding to watch then the more hyped germany and poland. The germany game was one of the worst so far.

I loved the way ghana played against italy, it was fearless. Rubbish defence but still massive props for just playing a open, free flowing game of footie. It was like they actually went out and enjoyed themselves LOL.

Ronaldo is starting for their next game isn't he? Maybe they know something we dont? We got a similer problem on our hands on starting Owen? Should we play rooney and croach? Bring on walcott later? Owen later?

Guus Hiddink is an amazing guy, one of the best out there! It fills me with joy to see how he mananges to make a 'small' soccer team (as in: Australia is not exactly know as a soccer-nation) perform well in a big tournement. Also, it's great to watch him getting all excited along the lines about the performances of the 'Soccaroos'!

Beckham did well today (he always does, but even thanx to a few slack balls in, he delivered just when I thought england were gonna settle for a draw)

Only two good passes in the whole friggin' game.....that's all he did! And you say he did well? wacky

we're talking about playing against Trinidad & Tobago.....

The english supporters cracked me up, singing 'Football's Coming Home' & 'God Save The Queen'

Not sure why it's particularly funny that a country should sing its own national anthem, but there you go. wacky wink

Anyway, you obviously were watching a different game with that 'two passes' nonsense. England did not actually play that badly - aside from a couple of defensive errors and the finishing, which was atrocious. Just under 70% possession for the whole game, a total of 25 shots (25! lol). The midfield movement was actually pretty successful, and the defensive line worked excellently (save for the couple of errors I mentioned).

The finishing was possibly the worst i've ever seen from an England team though - save for Gerrard's 'Hollywood' strike at the end.

Rebeljuice

England were alright. Better than the first game anyway. I just think we have yet to make the rest of the world look at us and shit themselves. We've seen some good football so far in the world cup and there are teams that I wouldnt want to face in the current form England are in.

I wasnt worried about facing Germany in the next round. But now I am because I just dont think Sven is good enough to get the best out of the players he has. HE is our weak link, and if we DO go on and win this tournament it will be in SPITE of Sven, not BECAUSE of him...

Its now time to start performing... Beware Sweden!

EDIT: And get rid of that long ball Sven!!!! For fucks sake!

lol, The Scotsman comes up with that just a few days into the World Cup. Irrespective of the merits of that piece, you've got to find that embarrassing, surely. My brother lives in Glasgow and some of things he tells me as an English football fan in Scotland are classic! falloff
