ABC didn't cut in til about 10 seconds into the game, so i missed kickoff, but i saw the rest of it!! It's weird as they had the opening game on 5 or 6 Thai channels at once, which was hardly necessary. Yesterday there were a couple of guys in the studio talking about the England game so I just assumed it was coming up. Then at kick off time a message came up on all channels saying that they would all be broadcasting the same programme, so I thought it was going to be on for sure. Turned out it was a news special about the king. Don't they realise that football is more important than anything else?????

It's just a festival of football! Brilliant i'm all for team spirit... but did we really need to see this?? go england!!

I agree their attitude is all wrong. I say England have the players to win any competition, but they don't have the team. The media plays a big part in this. "England expects.." Good lord!

You all really should be here in Germany right now. It's so amazing to walk through bigger cities like Hamburg and see people celebrating everywhere. It's a celebration over here!

A slight adjustment of attitide and you could win the damn thing! Crikey, I'm making that sound like it's a good thing! In other news, BBC Radio 1 reported 70,000 English fans in Frankfurt yesterday for the match and 12 Britons were arrested.

Go go gadget Japan.
Nakata to score the first goal.

Awful refereeing for that goal - should never have been allowed.
But anyway, 1-0 to Japan. I have to say, the refereeing has been below par for this tournament so far.

Do you mean the referee in this game right now, the referees alltogether in this world cup? They have been very, very good so far (can't see this game right now).

wow, you honestly think so? I think that there have been some terrible refereeing decisions. Yellow cards given for innocuous challenges / referees not being consistent in their card-giving, especially with regard to time wasting, at least one clear penalty not given. This referee is pretty good, actually, save for one v poor decision (IMO) - the goal.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
and then just as i say that...the ref fails to give a blatant penalty to Japan, after a foul by Cahill.
And then Cahill runs up the pitch and scores (what i assume will be) the winner. Cracking goal though. 2-1 to the Socceroos.
