Annual Cheese Rolling UK 2006

This weekend I attended the annual cheese rolling competition held on a very steep hill in Gloucestershire Uk. Basically a large cheese is rolled down an insanely steep hill. Then lots of crazy people all run down the insanely steep hill - trying to catch the cheese. If they catch it they win it!

A great event for anyone needing to break a few bones.....

The hill looking down .....

The race ....

The winner?

Apparently Dangerous Sports were filming so watch out for it on cable.

Anyone wishing to read up more ....

Shit, I so nearly went to this!!

We're off next year, as couldn't quite get organised this year. What an awesome event though. Class.

Well done, & hopefully you didn't get too injured (did you actually participate?).

I couldnt partipate. Got there late and there were several thousand people crowding it out. (excuses excuses). However we did do a mini version with a mini cheese! It also hailed during the afternoon which our aussie friends loved as much as the cheese rolling!

A Baby Bel exactly. Not much beer. Still suffering from Cheltenham triumph at the Millenium Stadium. Come on you Robins!

this fascinates me every year. a number of people who attend actually get seriously injured each year, in an attempt to win a grubby cheese that has been rolled down a hill with hundreds of crazy people tumbling all over themselves to grab it.

insanity, elevated to the rank of 'sport' smile

gotta love it! lol

Apparently one year the cheese went into the crowd at high speed and seriously injured someone.
