Abercrombie & Fitch This is sooooo delightful:
"[Sex and sexual attraction are] almost everything. That's why we hire good-looking people in our stores. Because good-looking people attract other good-looking people, and we want to market to cool, good-looking people. We don't market to anyone other than that...In every school there are the cool and popular kids, and then there are the not-so-cool kids. Candidly, we go after the cool kids. We go after the attractive all-American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don't belong [in our clothes], and they can't belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely." - - - - 61 year old Mike Jeffries, CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch, in a salon.com article. EDIT: here is the link: http://www.salon.com/mwt/...ex_np.html [Edited 5/25/06 10:45am]

Actually, I can't remember the holiday, but I was in a Mall her in Tampa and they had a shirtless A&F model standing as you enter the store.
I'm not trying to be gay here, but he was possibly one of the best looking men I've ever seen in my life. His chest was very well built, he stomach was ripped, and his hair was very stylish. It almost looked like the air brushed his entire torso, the skin was so smooth. I was awestruck by his beauty. I hear that the one at Citris Park (across town) had female models there. It would have been coold if they were topless. Very good looking folks at A&F indeed.

to be honest, extremely good looking store personell always makes
me feel very uneasy. i always get the feeling that they laugh at you for being regular or perhaps in their eyes even ugly or just not worthy -as the old geezer in the story above affirms-. that's just wrong on so many levels. i'd rather be in a store with personell with a great attitude who are friendly and make you feel welcome. if they're attractive as well, that's a nice bonus, lol. but we all know the examples of the self-proclaimed exclusive type store where the personell looks at you as if you have poop smeared all over your face. always have to laugh at that now and think of a quote from Edina on Absolutely Fabulous "Oi, you can drop the attitude. you only work in a shop, you know" and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

"A lot of people don't belong [in our clothes], and they can't belong." Is it true that K-Mart has also asked you not to wear their clothes etc.?

They won't let me in.
I walk by the entrance and the guard-twinks line up and bar my way. They say, "Sir, we have nothing for you here" and then direct me to JC Penneys.

I went into one in San Diego with a friend of mine and I looked at the stuff they had and I thought I would never be caught dead in them clothes. If you got some booty, you can't wear their pants. Plus they are expensive as hell too. $50 for a T-Shirt and a regular looking one at that? There are stores like this but it's all the same: Get the fuck outta here with that shit. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I can't go into that loud ass store. Every time I walk past it, I feel like Will Ferrell and Mango should be in front of it bobbing their heads. Gives me a damn headache just being in its proximity.

It's not an unfair judgment given the nature of the class action lawsuit. Weren't they the ones selling the underwear with the Asian laundry guy on them?

Yes, they were selling t-shirts that lampooned Asians... Then, there was the suit brought by nonwhite job applicants. A&F settled for $40 million. It was t-shirts. I'm getting my offensive AF clothing mixed up. It was these underwear - THONGS, aimed at girls aged 10 to 16 - that I was thinking of: Eye candy? Wink, wink?
