I need a hobby A friend has just pointed out to me I need to nurture myself. At them moment I am doing the same damned thing everyday of my life - weekends are indistinguishable from the rest of my week. She feels I am in danger of losing myself. I agree. I need a passion, a challenge, a regular escape from the humdrum.
But what? What do you do? To stimulate your brain? To energise yourself? To soothe your soul?

I never really found myself in the first place, I feel like everything I do is because I have to, not really want to. I have kind of lost any burning desire for anything

I have a passion for graphic design, but it is very time consuming and it's what I do for a job, not a pastime. I like photography, but I just couldn't see myself doing it unless someone told me to (like a client wanting a shot of something). I am unmotivated, tired, lethargic, braindead, lacking in confidence

Btw, to more seriously answer your question, I would suggest volunteer work (amazing the effects of devoting time and energy to helping others)...lots of reading (particularly books that make you think about the realities of life, like philosophy books)...take a class involving something you've always wanted to learn about or learn how to do...and if you're looking for very small things that can have a re-energizing effect, do simple things like changing the route you take to the store, each week find a restaurant you've never eaten at before and try it out, mail Byron some Tim Tams...things like that.

thanks Byron for seiously thinking about this for a minute. I am looking after my kids most of the time, so leaving the house by myself (to do voluntary stuff) is kind of out of the question for me at this time, as is paid work outside of home. Reading makes me unbelievably sleepy, since I have conditioned myself to falls asleep from reading it was a cure for my insomnia and I don't dare change that! I have the short course brochures, and I would love to dance, but I don't want to press myself up against someone who is NOT my husband, and he's not into it, and would have to look after the kids anyway. restaurants - not crazy about doing this all by myself, don't have the money to go to places where they cook better than I do. it is next to impossible getting someone willing to babysit my kids.
