Prince through the eyes of an 8 year old...

So I went swimming with Drew's eight year old niece Rune today and she asks me...

"You know that woman that was one TV the other night that you like?"

I'm not really sure who she talking about and all I can think of is Wonder Woman because she spent the evening with us last Saturday and we watched my WW DVDs- "Do you mean Wonder Woman?"

"No" she says, "that woman on American Idol."

eek "Do you mean Prince!?"

"Yes" she says, "Prince, why do you like her?"

"Rune! Prince is a man!"

"A man!? Well, she (again) sure is pretty and looks young, but I didn't like the song."

I know she got some of this from her grandmother- there's no way an eight year old is going to comment on how young someone looks, but she really thought Prince was a woman!

Drew, at my expense, thinks this is the funnest shit ever and is rolling!

Socks still got butt like a leather seat...

The first time I ever saw Prince in person in Mpls was when I was working at a movie theatre. He used to come in from time to time and I heard this before I got the job there and I was just waiting for the day it would happen. So my manager comes up to me one day to say he'll be there shortly. I was working the ticket booth and I ran and told the kid working behind the concession stand. He was only about 15 at the time and was quite naive, didn't really know who Prince was, but was excited cause I was so excited about it.
So finally, in walks Prince w/Mayte, I stopped what I was doing so my jaw could drop as I watched them walk through the outter lobby. After all was said and done and he was safely in the theatre, the poor kid ran up to my ticket booth and asked if I saw him. 'Of course I did! Didn't you see him walk through the lobby?' Poor Jake said, 'No, I only saw two women.' neutral

I don't remember, really. He came in several times over the 2 years I worked there and this was 11-12 years ago.
After a year of working there when I dropped out of college (long story) I became manager of the place and got to hold the door open for him once when he came in when I was working. He said 'thank you' to me and I couldn't even speak to get out a 'you're welcome'. giggle redface
He never got popcorn that I remember, but he did get candy... I wanna say Hot Tamales, but I could be mistaken.
