Yes, in the world of Marvel Comics, no one is ever TRULY dead. Except maybe Bucky.

No, man, that was Arclight, I believe.

Yeah, Arclight, a Morlock. Psylocke was the asian girl that walked through the wall, with the purple streaks in her hair. No clue why she was a morlock though.shrug

So Psylocke was kind of like Kitty Pride/Sprite?

The ending reminded me of the whole DAYS OF FUTURE PAST series.

dunno why Arclight was a Morlock either, since in the comic she was a Marauder (who helped to slaughter the Morlocks in the Mutant Massacre).

hell, i've been reading X-Men for decades, but I didn't know who she was supposed to be until the end when Magneto called her by name and told her what to do.

Regular continuity or Ultimate? I know she was in Ultimate.

I think Thanos is dead, same thing with Warlock. Is Thunderbolt still dead? How about Franklin Storm??

some clone of Gwen Stacy showed up last year, i think. Thanos? don't think he's dead. he's had some stuff going on the last few years, including a solo series at one point, i think.

Franklin Storm... you mean Franklin Richards? no, he's alive, AFAIK

I think originally Omahyrah Mota was written in as Stacy X, the pheromone-producing mutant prostitute -- that's partly why she looked like that. But through script revisions, her character became Arclight. And though she had no speaking part, she ROCKED her showcase scene!

Omahyrah has one of the wierdest looks I've ever seen, but along with having a punk band, she's one of the most sought after international fashion models in the industry today. She was named among the 50 most beautiful people in the world by Paper magazine, and though she has a very androgynous look naturally, she can be gorgeously feminine...

Psylocke's wasted presence was one of the biggest disappointments in X3. mad And they improvised that walking-through-walls thing for the movie.

In the books, her powers are mostly psionic -- telepathy, precognition, telekinesis (powerful enough to actually manifest as a near-tangible energy -- she often creates a "psychic dagger or sword"). For a short time, though, she gained the power to teleport through shadows, and I think that's what the movie may loosely -- and poorly -- have been hinting at. Also, she was originally Caucasian, but temporarily switched consciousness with a Japanese female ninja character. They definitely didn't do her justice in the movie.

Another complaint... This mutant is listed in the credits as "Kid Omega."
http://www.imdb.com/galle...035094.jpg
BIG MISTAKE! In the books, he's "Quill."

Kid Omega is actually a geeky pre-adolescent mutant and a telepath whose powers are potentially on par with Jean Grey's.

Many of us don't know or just don't care whether the films are accurate relative to the comics. I just went to the cinema yesterday to hopefully see a good film, based almost solely on the positive things people had said here. I quite liked the first two and figured this one sounded a little better so should be pretty good. And it was. Not an excellent movie, but a very good one, and I'm happy I went to see it at the cinema rather than get it on DVD as there were a couple of breathtaking scenes that need the big screen for the full effect.

I'd give it 3.5 out of 5. thumbs up!

p.s. Thais are going out to see this movie in droves. They had 5 screens simultaneously showing just this movie, some with Thai soundtrack, some with English. There were hardly any other movies on at either cinema we checked out. The queues were massive.

...doh, this was supposed to be an edit of the original post smile

Oh it was a good flick alright. Just that when you've waited years to see your favorite characters onscreen, you want it done right.

So why don't the film makers stick more accurately to the comics? Would it compromise their film in any way whatsoever? Surely all of geekdom would be behind them, and for us ignorant folk there'd be no difference, just a good film.

I dunno, Fauxie. I can only think that in some cases, it's a matter of money or story credibility (...though I know that must seem odd with regard to a superhero movie giggle). Psylocke, for example, is a very well-liked character, but her part in the movie was so minor that it didn't justify the costs or the far-out backstory of glowing psychic swords, teleportation in and out of alternate shadow dimensions (although that would have been MAD cool), etc. And if Phoenix, for example, were true to the books, she'd have been flying through outer space engulfed within a fiery bird form, destroying solar systems, etc. lol That's just too much!

In other cases (like an incorrect character name), I think it's just ignorance by the filmmakers and possibly poor consultation.

...But to be fair, as you suggested, the goal was a fun summer movie, not to create something Shakespearean. A few complaints aside, I'm pretty cool with the work they all did.
