Memoirs Of A Geisha I was thinking of ordering it on pay-per-view. Is it good enough to watch? Someone tell me. I heard it was a good movie, but I want a second opinion.

the very nature of this film ticked me off because some of the lead characters are not played by Japanese actors.
It's being called "a movie about Japanese played by Chinese, written by whites". but a quarter of the movie was filmed at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, CA. my family and I have very strong ties to these gardens and its employees/CEOs (etc) and my boyfriend and I even did work for them. I mean, like, where is the sun?

No offense intended, but I don't understand this. You are aware that Europeans play Americans all the time and vice versa?

How many roles for aussies are there in Hollywood? they have to leave Australia to hit the big time, and then they have to pretend to be americans to fit into the plot. How many major films have you seen where Naomi or Nicole or Cate have their aussie accent on? (I can't really think of any!)

I mean, it follows that the majority of US made movies are gonna be about the US, take place in the US, have mostly American characters, etc. But maybe if a screenwriter or two could slip in a few characters, you guys would have it made. |

But I think they make the characters talk american so their biggest audience (americans) can understand them take mad max - huge aussie movie for example, which was renamed and dubbed with US accents!

It's so sad isn't it? It always floors me when they subtitle someone speaking english with an accent on US tv. They're speaking english! It's not that difficult. Unless of course, they're a drunk scottsman, and then god help us all. |

When they don't, I have no clue.

But can get a little long. Yes, I agree but I would recommend you read the book instead. The book tells the true Geisha story. The movie does not.
