Oh dear god, one of our supervisors says that shit on company meetings.

Mind you, these are telecomm meetings with attendees from all over the globe, listening to an ignorant ass American murder the queen's language!

ok, i'm gonna have to break out a letter from my "literary gems" file (indeed, i have one of those - how pathetic is that?! redface )

from a letter we received from a partner agency in the same building...

[...] I am writing to you with a concern as it pertains to a situation I encountered this morning while in the lower level of the building. As I began to finalize things this morning for the commencing of summer camp; I couldn't help but notice a pack of cockroaches throughout the gamesroom area and the Preschool/Head Start classrooms. [...] I honestly feel the way to rectify this is to have the rooms exterminated immediately. A vast majority of the rodent population is a result of food from the Head Start program. [...]

i'm sorry, i had to copy that one. lol between the style and the cockroach/rodent confusion, i knew this was a keeper!

Yeah, and I've got some that are similar... people who think Sweden is spelled Sweeden and consequently spells Sweedish, Sweede and so on wrong... and who think that Sweden is part of Switzerland, or that they're one and the same. "Oh yes, Sweeden. I know you make good watches!" they'll say all happily and I go "No, that's Switzerland." and so on. neutral

ooooH ! But that's SLANG! I LOOOOOVE slang, ebonics, southern dialect, whatever you want to call it. It's FUN to use it for effect...I speak it in the presence of family (and my closest) friends all the time. In the last year I've also started using the horrible "an' 'nem" as well lol

...mind you, if I'm not in the company of friends and loved ones, then I stick to SAT standard English (my verbal scores were in the top 10th percentile), but sometimes it just feels so liberating to start my sentences off with colloquial terms of endearment like "Chile...." ...damn it, I can give you "irregardless", but I want a pass for "might could" lol !!!!

The most annoying of all for me is people who refer to Africa as a COUNTRY instead of a CONTINENT. We learned the correct geographical terminology when I was in second grade (Thank you, Mrs. Williams)!

I am also highly annoyed by people who claim to be Afrophiles or Afrocentric, yet cannot name at least 10 of the countries that currently exist in Africa (because as we all well know, borders and territory names change sometimes) cool ...it annoys me to no end lol
