The famous Star Wars "Biggs" scene. See it!!!!!

This is the famous "Biggs" scene that was cut from the original Star Wars film, but was included in the novel, comics and storybook adaptations. The scene was so well known, many fans actually recall seeing it in the theater (it was never in the theatrical release, so these are just false childhood memories. I myself have memories of it, but I'm sure it was from reading the book.)

Rumour has it that this scene will be included as an extra in the HD release sometime down the road. For the time being, it just remains one of those pieces of Star Wars lore. Here it is in all its glory. Watch it before Lucasfilm catches on and pulls it!

Yes, including stills from it. In fact, I'm pretty sure my "memory" of it comes from a combination of the stills, and the scene in the novelization.

I'd never heard of that - that was cool to watch. Does Biggs come up anywhere else in the SW trilogy? That's the kind of scene that it would be nice to see back in the movie, but then it would need some kind of follow-up later in the trilogy (like seeing Biggs again, or hearing his name).

Yeah, thanks for sharing it. It was interesting, although I can see why it was cut out. The beginning of it felt like a silent movie! biggrin

He is later seen in the Death Star battle. He gets blown to smithereens.

Well, the first part was just over-dubbed with William's score, since the actual soundtrack for that bit is now missing.

Personally, I can see the scene being tightened up a bit and included, although it isn't a big loss without it. I'd rather see it as a DVD extra in the deleted scenes section. It does add a bit of continuity and emotional connection with Biggs' death later in the film, but that is all.

Darla

You should get the "deleted magic" version of Star Wars on DVD. It has that plus a bunch of other deleted scenes inserted where appropiate in the movie. There's a whole bunch of stuff taken out including all the Biggs scenes on Tatooine, the meeting with Jabba the Hut with the original actor, & Han's girlfriend in the Alien bar.

Deleted Magic versions of Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi are expected to follow.

OH MY GOD. I LOVE THIS. STAR WARS FOREVER. This is the good shit. I have wondered about this for so long,

This also seems to include parts (the burning out of his helper droid at the moisture farm vaporator) from the legendary B&W 3 hour+ workprint cut of Star Wars. God, this movie is so much better in my opinion then all the others. Can you feel the mood? The immense feel of the universe they talk about?

Is this really going to be on the DVD!

slap me.

When I was really into Star Wars in my younger days, I had this CD-Rom called "Behind The Magic" or something that also had this scene. It was in black & white and I don't think it had any audio, but I thought it was so cool to finally see it.

I always kind of wished Biggs had made it through the first movie.

I had NEVER seen that before! Thanks for sharing!

It actually would fit nicely in SW now. The discussion about the Empire's taking over of local economies would mesh with all the trade federation/political schlocka on Eps 1-3....

Not on the new release, but it is rumoured to be one of the bits that is going to be included with the HD release.

As Darla pointed out, there is a bootleg floating around with this and other tidbits. I haven't seen it yet, and I actually haven't tried to track it down yet.

Nothing I can say with any definitive answer. I suspect it comes from someone at The Ranch working on the HD set. If nothing else, it is a good sign of what we MIGHT be getting down the road.

That happened to me too. When they first released Star Wars for home video (tape) I couldn't figure out why they cut out the scene with Biggs that I vividly remembered seeing.

it looked like biggs squeezed luke's butt there around the end. lol

very cool scene, though i don't like where it was going to be placed - right after the droids went into the escape pod - so i guess i'm kinda okay with it being cut from the film. i love that the whole introduction to tatooine is by way of the droids and the landscape, and you deal with the long scene of non-human characters for so long before you meet the human characters.

gawd, i'm such a geek

and poor koo stark. it could have been her big break. lol

Those actors must have been sooo pissed when their scenes were cut. Especially after the film became so big.

I was lucky enuff 2 buy the original trilogy on DVD at the SAN DIEGO COMICCON last year (bootleg of course) - that scene and HAN SOLO with girlfriend r on there, whoever made the transfers added these scenes from a CD-ROM I'm guessing.

Biggs looked cool in that black cape, shame the sceene wasn't reinserted for the 1997 special edition, maybe 2007...?

cool
