I used to hang out with quite a few gay men when I lived out east but since moving out here I haven't developed any new gay guy friendships.
98% of my friends are straight males, the other 2% are straight or lesbian girls who have all the awesome qualities that Notoriousj listed (except the hitting on me).

I envy people with friends -- straight or gay.
The only person I regularly see outside of my wife and kid these days is really a straight girlfriend of my wife. The guys I grew up with -- my "crew" -- are all married with kids, and we usually only get together when one of us needs help moving. And I figure I have the aggregate of about 1 gay friend: * a guy here in Cleveland whom I haven't seen in nearly 2 years (we catch up online maybe monthly) 1/3; * another who is actually a vicarious friend through the first guy 1/3; * another who now lives in New York, whom I haven't so much as chatted with in about 2 years. He and my wife e-mail every so often, I think. 1/3 Past the age of, say, 30, I've found it hard to identify with much of anyone. But I can't "blame" it on everyone else. I know I've got some off-putting idiosyncrasies. ...I do find it amusing, though, how everyone comes out of seclusion to consult me for any "high-culture" or aesthetic-related advise since I've come out. I know when they hit on my its harmless and not some sleezy horny male lookin for a good fuck. 3. When I ask them if this dress makes me look fat...they will tell me it makes me look like a heffa and to go change into something else unlike most men who tell me no I look lovely when I really don't...I love their honesty. 4. They can be just as much of a Diva as me. 5. They never try to steal my boyfriends like my girls have tried to do. 6. If they look better then me they don't run it in like catty girls do. 7. They have the abilitly to see things from the male and female point of view. It's great that you and Matt get along so well I think only #4 applies to me. Like this thread.
My friends are made up of all sorts - gay, straight, young, old, male, female. And a few I wouldn't know how to class. I wouldn't say there's a certain trend although I have a lot of close female friends. There again, some of my closest, closest friends are male. Because I've never particularly associated with one group or the other, I can mix-and-match between them all. I just feel blessed to have them in the first place.
