i'm really comfortable around straight women too, as long as i'm not dealing with the proprietary fag-hag who has weird creepy personal space/boundary issues. i've been there and i don't wanna go back! boxed

i'm making more close friendships with other gay guys than i ever have. i think as i get older, i can be more genuine with others of the homogays and they can be more genuine with me. it's very nice - long overdue.

i think i feel most awkward trying to relate to straight guys. i'm flattered that a lot of my female friends' boyfriends and husbands have felt comfortable with me and have said as much, though...hmm...i think one of the things that makes me feel awkward is that it's harder to have "girltalk" with a straight guy. you know, talk about weirdo crazy sex shit and mad crushes and stuff like that. it's been possible sometimes, i guess...

usually my straight guy chat consists of stuff like music and comic books and artists...which, you know, i love to talk about, and straight guys seem to be more well versed on this stuff than anyone else, i've found. so hey, i guess i just love everyone. whee!

I have my core group of friends which is almost equally gay men and women but I don't have a lot of close relationships with other gay men. Straight women I have many but aside from my close friends for the last 2 decades, that's it.

All my straight girl friends have all been great. It's funny because the relationship that I have with my girl friends is the same as the relationship that NOTORIOUSJ has with her gay male friends. These girls are honest and will let me know when I'm acting up. Gotta love them.

I used to hang with gay people before I moved to San Fran. Slowly, my friend base started going straight. I think that is due to that I dj and the crew I am with is pretty straight w/GFs etc. When I go out it's normally with these guys. If Casey is not with me, I am the token gay. However, I intermingle with all of them equally.

Now I DO have my best friend out here and there is a whole crowd assoc to that. They are all gay. Mostly bears and such. What's funny is that I don't have a lot in common with them and most of my interactions is on the holidays or Birthdays and such.

The two groups rarely intermingle mostly because my gay friends never come out to any of the events I throw (which is where most of my time is spent)...or rarely do so. It's very odd.
