Did you see that they added up the scores wrong? Barrera won the fight by one point on Morita's scorecard. eek

I don't think it was so much slipping, I think it's more that he's just getting older. Pacquio gave him a beating. Plus, I don't think he was prepared to fight Rocky Juarez.

Good fight though!! We've been lucky, there have been a number of enjoyable fights lately!!! thumbs up!

Pacquiao killed him. Him slipping is probably down to age it happens to everyone. Roy Jones Jr, Bernard Hopkins, Kosta Tsyzu - guys I thought were unbeatable.

You're right though, there have been a lot of good fights recently. Did you catch Hatton vs Collazo? I thought Hatton was very lucky.

Yes!! He was VERY lucky! He's going to have to learn to not eat so many punches, especially if he plans on moving up in weight, which would be the logical choice for him.

I can see him going back down again. Collazo will have scared the shit outta him. But Collazo is a good fighter and would give any of the light welters moving up a good fight.

He says he wants the winner of Gatti/Baldomir, but I think he'll drop down to fight Cotto

Not sure if he wants any of Gatti.

Why are we the only fucking fight fans here? Where's Senik and Shy?

True, no-one seems interested here.

Senik's never on here these days, sine he got his new job and moved mad

P.S Gatti vs Hatton would be a fuckin' WAR!

He is, but the one thing that stands out for me with him is that he just keeps coming at you. For 12 rounds he just kept going at Collazo - I think that may have swung the decision

The thing he loses with going up is his ability to bully fighters this way.

I peeped that fight last night, it was good. I felt the judges had it right the first time, it was a draw. Can't wait for the Tarver/Hopkins - Taylor/ Wright matchups, they should be interesting.

HBO is smart, they know that both Jermain Taylor and Winky Wright don't have the fan base to pull off the PPV. Only the serious fight fans would order while the casuals wouldn't. Either way I'm glad that they're throwing us serious fans a bone by putting it on HBO card instead of PPV, they got enough PPV'S to cover them for the year.

U cats should check out maxboxing.com's message boards. We have some pretty good/intense discussions on all aspects of boxing. It gets a bit frustrating sometimes with the younger crowd, who only know the Mayweathers and Jones - it's also fun to point them in the direction of some of the greats of the past.

BTW, I thought Barerra pulled out a close decision. It reminded me of Larry Holmes' courageous effort against young gun Carl "The Truth" Williams. Old Lion holds on to turn back the spirited challenge of a young wildcat.

Hatton needs to go back down to junior welter. I call it the "Meldrick Taylor" effect. Aggressive, fast-paced fighter with little punching power finds it hard going in the heavier weight classes. Ricky Hatton wears opponents down with his strength - at welter, his strength advantage isn't as pronounced and his flaws (easy to hit/swell) are even more evident. I do, however, thinks he can defeat Arturo Gatti, who I think is/hasbeen overrated throughout his career. Gatti does have a decided edge in punching power, though. He'll be hard-pressed to get by Carlos Baldomir, in my opinion...

Well said, the only reason I don't go on the boards is because some people feel the need to act like they know everything, and that shit drives me nuts.

Cool, I check out a couple of boxing forums but not Maxboxing - I might give it a try.

I'd tend to agree with you about Hatton, but being a an admirer (wouldn't say I'm a fan), I'd like to see him take another fight at Welter as it was a) his first and b) against a tricky southpaw. Nigel Benn said it took him a year to adjust to super middleweight from middleweight.

taylor/wright will be good for sure.

tarver/hopkins not so. I'm not a fan of tarver, he's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is, and he's pretty boring to watch. Hopkins is getting old, he'd have schooled tarver easy in his prime

I will catch alot of flack for this, but I consider Hopkins to be one of, if not the best, middleweight ever.

His last performance wasn't impressive however, and I don't think Tarver is stupid enough to scrap with Bernard. He will fight, sporadically, from the outside. sigh

Hopkins is up there, no doubts. A great fighter. But he didn't look great in his last fights against Taylor. It's his age
