filling the VOID...

How do you do it? What's your vice?

You don't have to say what the void is, I won't - there's too many & they're too obvious sigh

If you have no "void" I applaud you, I can't wait for the day that I'm truly happy w/ my life. Be nice if said happiness lasts for more than a day, lol...

As for me, I've become one of those women I never thought I was, didn't think I'd become & used to laugh @ frankly. I collect things to fill the void, which is code for "I shop" lol It's not expensive things, it's not things I can't use or don't necessarily "need" - it can be toiletries for God's sake, I just always feel like I need more stuff. And it doesn't make me feel better, it makes me feel worse b/c I beat myself up for wanting so much & repeatedly indulging myself. It's a dumb-ass cycle. It hasn't put me into debt but I suppose it could someday if my work situation changed drastically enough.

The void feels huge tonight... I just spent $200 neutral

Your turn - how do you fill the void question

.

I have a wonderful girlfriend is how.

And great family, loved ones and friends.

Other than that, I try not to do anything to excess and focus on making myself whole through meditation and playing music all the time.

Er, but I DO experience that sense that you're talking about sometimes because my GF is in another country... so I guess I DO sometimes drink a bit and smoke occasionally but I also balance it with exercise and taking care of myself... and also not taking life too seriously. Comedy and humour helps. And sex.... but really, I think the truth of "filling the void" is being totally in love, with someone else, and liking yourself to a good degree too (ie, having good self esteem and confidence) and also just making the most of every moment, because one day (and this is not in a fatalist sense) you won't have as much time to have a GOOD time.

Here endeth the reading.

I keep taking it to God in prayer (to paraphrase "What a Friend We Have in Jesus"). I find it works, though I don't always agree with the way He responds. But, on more than one occasion (ha! especially recently), I've prayed:

"Please, change my life, and make it better." Again, He does. I just don't always like the manner in which He chooses to do so.

And, I try to do what I can to get my life there. I try to make decisions that don't sabotage those aspirations. And, I trust, as God makes changes to my life, that He's orchestrating things with those aspirations and dreams in mind. (Psalm 37:4)

I think the difference is knowing the function of what you're doing, being conscious that you're at it again w/ your fix of choice. Some people just do what they do, I'm not sure how much they ever think about it...

i do/did the same basically, although i am one of those few people
lucky enough to not put on weight from what they eat -at all. if i
would put on weight, i would be 300 pounds by now.

and i keep quitting smoking and then taking it up again as soon as
the void needs filling. it's a kind of self controlled destruction
i guess.

but the buying things for no reason, thanks god, i managed to put a
stop to because it was really ruining my financial situation. now i
just hang around the org all day long or drive to mcdonalds for one
cappucino twenty times a week. but hey that's still less expensive
than buying 20 cd's or dvd's and it gives you something to do for a
while as well.

I work a lot, play with the kids and animals. When the void feels really big I take really long, hot baths, read in bed and sleep a LOT.

I come here and post like a half-maniac; that makes me feel better.

I go eat something because I don't know what I want and really, it's probably not food, but I go do it anyway. lol

I write stuff down (lists, songs, anything), sometimes while I listen to music. If not, I listen to music afterward...
I don't know if life would be interesting without a void...and I mean that seriously...if we had everything we wanted and needed, would we be bored?

let's see listening to music, reading, writing poetry, chatting online with friends, dreaming/fantasizing about someone I have a crush on, exercising, laying out by the pool, going into work on the weekends- (how sad), eating things that are bad for me, dancing, writing in to he local papers editorial section.. God- I am boring..
Oh and sometimes I drink to fill the void..

Oh and I forgot dark chocolate.. good organic dark chocolate! drool
