Do men like smart women?

Quite often in the "must haves", women insist that their male partners be smart and funny. Brains rank up there in the top 3.

From what I've observed/heard, many straight guys seem to want intelligence in a woman sort of as an afterthought--"attractive, fun, sweet, smells good, smiles at my jokes, not a golddigger: oh, and smart would be nice".

Is this just nature/evolution? Or do you guys really not get bored and annoyed by someone if she looks/acts nice enough? hmmm

I think the majority of heterosexual men wouldn't want a woman to outsmart them smile

I think most men dont want a woman that is smarter than them.

I certainly am an exception to this though. My wife is better educated and way smarter than me.

Personally, I cannot stand stupidity and dullness in a woman. If there is no intelligence then their physical attractiveness dives several points fairly rapidly.

Of course, I could never be fussy because most women are way smarter than me anyway confused

so tell me men, what is this about?

WHY is it like this? is it an overcompensation type thing?
are you really that self-conscious and cowardly that the only thing that'll make u feel better is having a dumb girl for a companion?

i may sound harsh, but it's only cuz i dont get it

so go ahead, explain.

Most of the resounding "no"s have been women speaking on behalf of men, not men actually saying it.

This is probably a different issue than intelligence though. Men are traditionally brought up to be the "bread winner" and can feel like a failure if they arn't. Once again, i dont get this. I can think of nothing better than my wife bringing in the big money (we earn about the same on a pro-rata basis anyway).

I like a woman who's smarter. It makes the conversations more interesting. I want to be with someone I can learn from and with.
