Ex-Moderator | I swear to god sometimes I am just socially inept So for many years now I've been friends almost exclusively with gay men and straight women. There is a vast shortage of hetero men in my social circle and my group of friends always talks about doing something about that, but we never do.
I mean, really, how am I gonna find a date if I don't know any straight men? So today at work I'm getting ready to leave and a cute straight male co-worker invited me to a happy hour after work. Now, I already have plans (going to the gay bar for three 4 one's in a little bit), and instead of being all, "gosh, thanks for the invitation, how nice! I have plans, but let me know next time for sure!" I said something lame about how, yeah, I'm already going to have a drink with my friends and I think I mildly insulted the place they were going to. |

You need to join a country club. “In order to maintain an untenable position, you have to be actively ignorant, ... One motto on the show is, 'Keep your facts, I'm going with the truth.'”

you're better off not getting involved with someone at work, but on monday you could go up to him and say "I shoulda taken you up on your invite..."...and let things flow from there

We'll see. I'm shy. See the 'socially inept' part of the thread title. I think I'll just casually hang out near that group of folks near my quitting time and see what happens. lol. |

I don't wear them really, though, I'm afraid. And they're are against my dress code at work. I see what you're saying. And you're probably right. But it's sooooo uncomfortable to me. |

See, I'm really not interested in him. I'm just thinking he may have friends. This is one of the best reasons for being friends with guys. I say ask him to come out with your friends the next time you guys go out.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah, you should try to find a chance soon to ask him to come hang out with you guys, so he'll know it wasn't a personal rejection. So you can get with his friends. Totally. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!
