I feel so lucky you guys!

It's been like a monsoon here all week, and everybody's houses are flooded. And I never knew this but insurance doesn't cover it????? eek

We are like one of the few around that didn't get a drop of water in our basement at all. Were at the top of the mountain and it's downhill from our house on. So all the ppl below us our in bad shape. sad I feel so bad for them.

We can't leave to go anywhere though, cuz were outta town, and all the roads are blocked.

I just don't know how we got so lucky. pray

i am not an expert of insurance ... but i would be surprised if it doesnt cover stuff like water in the basement??? not sure .... confused

again -- stressing i could be WRONG .... especially since around my area - alot of people get "SINKHOLE " insurance ... and it only covers your house ... in other words if a huge sinkhole opens in your yard--- it aint covered ..... but if it swallows your home .... you are covered ! wink lol

i do think "flood insurance" is necessary in areas where homes are located in flood plains (in the US) ...

LOL about the sink holes.

Yeah, I didn't understsand so I asked hubby about it. It's because no one around here ever gets flood insurance cuz it "never" floods. Only ppl that have a crick running through their yard or something are required to get it, and no one else bothers.

in Pa here too actually .. lol .. i used to sell real estate --- in a flood area --- and if you are in specific areas --- flood plains ... you are required to get flood insurance for a mortgage ...

of course - some houses ... are not in areas of "flood plains" and still do get flooded .... however .... am still pondering the "water in basement" idea ... cus .... u can be in an area that does NOT flood ... and just have a underground creek runnin near your house ... and unbeknownst to you get a foot or 2 of water in your basement .... hmmm hmmm... i would think that u have coverage on personal belongings that get rain soaked and ruined .... however ... you could be right .... not sure ...

i am near harrisburg ... and ... i just had some waterproofing done in my basement ... house is like 40 yrs old and had water ... and i was surprised that we did not have an ounce in the basement ... thumbs up!

I am near Harrisburg to.....how near R ya?

So y'all are gettin' soaked too. Where we live ppl's basements get flooded every time it rains heavy, but a lot of the ppl don't care. However both houses we owned had finished basements, and thankfully never flooded. I have toask hubby 'bout the personal belonging thing, I'm not sure.

I don't think were in a flood plain.....?

How embarrassing! My father in law was on his way over to get some stuff from us to pump the water out of his basement. (His sewer backed up, YUCK)

So my doorbell rings, I was was in my room getting ready to get changed, so I told my son to go open the door, I go out to tell my "father in law" to help himself, and it's my Pastor! eek

I had no bra on, and my jammies! I was HORRIFIED!!!!!

He was makin' rounds to make sure everyone was alright.....UGH! I can't show my face in church this week! confused
