David Palmer would laugh his ass off when he heard the season finale involves Jack Bauer boarding a Russian submarine just a couple of hours after he hijacked an airplane and landed it on the highway.

Some serious suspension of disbelief was required for that airplane landing. lol

SPOILER ALERT:

And, really, half the season is spent on that damned recording, and then it just goes 'poof', right out of the storyline? What, the people who heard it will talk? Well, fine, but then they didn't need to go to all of that trouble, Jack could have just played it over the phone to whomever needed to hear it (and why DIDN'T he do that, fer fuck's sake?!).

But all will be forgiven if we get to see Jack kick some presidential ass. pray

I knew that guy at CTU was a weasel. Couldn't Jack at least have listened to it with everybody present or something. I mean, people sneak into CTU all the time. It's not like it's actually secure or anything. Anybody can get in or out! lol You can't even trust the people you work with. disbelief

there's actually a team of writers at the entrance of CTU. if you can adequately support a plot twist, they'll let you in, easy peasey.

I was really expecting the gas to be set off at the white house. Then Jack would have to decide to save the pres or not.

Why didn't he just give it to Palmers brother when he went to safety.

I know I think the destroyed recording was lame...now we have another "terror" alert.

I know, it's retarded. "I'm the most wanted man on Earth, but I'm going to keep this recording that the people trying to catch me want destroyed right on my body at all times, and make sure nobody important hears it unless I actually make it back to CTU." Makes perfect sense. rolleyes

And yet, the damn show is endlessly entertaining. lol

It's all about Chloe. nod

And yeah, that shit was funny. I was thinkin', Jack, go back and finish him off right. lol

I don't understand why they didn't detain him. Make the president explain why the guy got transferred. Don't just take his word for it when you know he just did something terrible.

ANd how about Karen demanding to see both pieces of evidence that A) led him to believe that Jack was bad and B) the piece that claims said other evidence was faulty.

OK, I didn't realize this thread had turned into this week's 24 thread before posting my own.

The recording thing is the major plot whole in this whole season - why didn't he play it to CTU over the phone? Why didn't anybody even think to explain that away with something as simple as "it's coded to scramble over an electronic frequency" or some lame excuse so at least we 'believed' that it wouldn't work to play it over the phone (of course, then it wouldn't work to play on the conference call either, but hey...) - and not detaining Miles was a huge error - find out what he did, and chances are it's reversible. But no, you just decide to not follow up on something that's been the biggest plot point of the last 6 or 7 episodes...

As for Henderson, I'm more and more convinced that the 24 movie has to be a prequel of when Henderson was at CTU, his mentoring of Jack that made Jack the man we now know, and how Henderson was brought down - this way, we'd get to see characters that have since died (Tony, Nina etc.) and still tie it in to the current seasons of 24.

Agreed about trashing this story arc, and agreed about the movie. If they're going to do it, it's gotta be a prequel, and the Henderson bit would be a great place to go with that.

Not to mention we'd get to see Terry Bauer and Probably David and Sherry Palmer

Terri Bauer sure (although I never liked her much), but since Jack only met David Palmer during the first season (by which time Henderson had left CTU) they would need to do it in a clever way - perhaps David Palmer is involved in the story, but he and Jack never meet or find out each other's names.

I thought Palmers story stretched back before season one. When he was part of the armed forces...I recall such a plot line in season 3. I thought he and Jack had a history.

Oh, yeah, maybe you're right... that rings some bells. This would all make an ideal time to set the movie in.
