What was the first record you ever bought?

The first single i ever bought was Madness "Our House" when i was 5 or 6.
The first album i ever bought was "1999" by Prince.

Whenever i hear "Our house" i get all nostalgic confused
and to this day 1999 remains one of my favourite albums.

Do you remeber any of the circumstances leading to you buying your first ever record?
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

As long as you don't take the lyrics too seriously:

'He's my Toyboy, Toy-boy
He's my Toyboy, toy-boy
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday night...'

Busted! falloff

My father - when I was growing up - used to moan incessantly about male singers who sang in falsetto. Cos obviously that means they're gay. See: Jimmy Somerville. (Okay, bad example lol).

Fitting that, years later, my musical idol can shatter windows just by opening his mouth. giggle

And, no, I don't mean Mel & bloody Kim! no no no!

The Other Woman – Ray Parker Jr.
Hot In The City – Billy Idol
Paperlate – Genesis
Dancing in the Street - Van Halen
I Ran – Flock of Seagulls

Side Two

You Don’t Want Me Anymore – Steel Breeze
You Keep Runnin’ Away - .38 Special
Play The Game Tonight – Kansas
Holdin’ On – Tane Caine
Love Plus One – Haircut One Hundred
Crimson and Clover – Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
Hurts So Good – John Cougar

If we're talking cds, I was a late starter to all that.

(Bearing in mind that I have a father who banned a video recorder in our house for years as it would obviously bring smut and filth in)(I wish rolleyes).

But my first two cds, I got them on the same day, were:

~ Diva - Annie Lennox

~ My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts - David Byrne & Brian Eno

Bit of a weird purchase. confused lol
