I had enough of putting on weight and flab last July. I've always generally been a fit person but I had let myself go and my weight had got out to about 100kgs. iwas starting to get manboobs (at least to my eyes). I've never had poor dietry habits (except for excess drinking) so that was not so much a problem.
I joined a gym and have been doing three sessions a week of boxing, gymwork and cardio. I have lost about 7/8 kilos and lots that was fat is now muscle again. It is great for stress relief and I certainly feel better about myself. No manboobs now, just a hard lean body, and it feels great! When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

I'm only drinking beer on the weekends now (mostly...lol). When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

There's a 24 Hr Fitness by me & whenever I wanna start back I go @ fucking midnight There's barely anyone there, I don't have a line of people waiting while I figure stuff out, it's a lot less intimidating. If you want a real good sweat, when you do your cardio, go ten minutes on 3 to 4 different machines(ex. - bike, elliptical, treadmill, stairmaster). Take a 30 second water break and go right to the next machine. It feels great, and makes doing cardio less boring. For some reason the bike always fucks w/ my knees I tend to do 30-60 min on the elliptical & call it a night. When I'm just starting up again (b/c I do the gym in spurts ) I do at least 30 but I like my minimum to be 40-45 & the goal is always an hour. I dunno how much good it does me (keeping a medium pace mostly w/ some quick spurts & increasing the incline throughout) but I always feel good

To all those who are trying to lose weight, get fit or just doing exercise for the hell of it - I have much respect. Yes, this thread is really great. This, THIS is what I love the org for. But just the thought of going to the gym or doing it - I don't know what it is - fear, laziness, I'm not sure. How do you break that barrier? All I know is that I want the results but doing it is a different matter. I'd be a millionaire if I had a quid for every single time I've thought about it.
So to all you guys dieting, exercising, pushing yourselves AND looking after yourselves - Keep up the good work. It took me a long time to get up the balls to start working out and watch what I was eating. I was doing really well for about a month, then work got busy and I got sick so I kind of just stopped and fell back into my bad habits. But I think it was Easter weekend that finally did it. I ate all of my Easter candy in a few days and felt completely ill afterwards. Not to mention none of my jeans fit! I could only fit into one pair - the ones that were stretchy, so they could accommodate my new waistline. Anx is right - just fucking get up and DO it. That's the only way around it, really. and good luck, my friend. Thanks, Pam. I'll probably still be saying the same thing next year but this thread has really made me sit up and take notice.

Another good trick is to pick a time when it's not so crowded. I know, I think that's what I find so intimidating really. Plus, I've never been much of a sporty person - too many games lessons trying to avoid getting picked and faking sickies, I think. But I wouldn't mind taking up yoga or something like that. Thanks Calhoun.

A store that has three floors and an office and warehouse on two seperate floors. She has SLIMMED like crazy. So get a house and start walking stairs. Serious. Stairs are the best for workouts...unfortunately I dont have many at home so I use one of these http://ga.eellipticalmachine.com/

I have weightrained for 15 years and weigh 200 of athletic muscle, but the key to losing weight is consistency For what it is worth, I multiply my body weight by 11 to get my caloric expenditure for the day...as long as you consume under 3500 calories daily, you shouldn't put on weight.... I'm not a doctor , but play one on the org There is more anecdotal evidence posted on this thread than a latenight infommercial.
