Kitty advice?

Ok here's the deal:

3 weeks ago a heaten kitty was hanging in my garden. It took me a while to understand that he was on heat because at first I thought he was hurt or something giggle

I ignored him for the first week but than called the animal protection organisation and they adviced me to feed him so that he at least was taking care of.

He has a leash on so he must belong to someone so I took some pics from him and sended those to Amivedi (it's an organization that reunites lost pets with their owners) but no one reported him missing or anything neutral

Now i do like him and it's been 3,5 weeks since he came to my home. How long should I wait before I take him in?

He could be from someone around my neighbourhood but according to my neighbours and my son he is on te street at night.

Advice?

Oh here are some pics I took of him smile

I think the cat has chosen you. I would take it in - nearly four weeks is ages.

I would say it's your cat now!

thumbs up!

awwww.... he's cute! mushy

i would put up some fliers around the neighborhood, and maybe put a classified ad in the newspaper, and give it another couple of weeks. then i would take him in and have him neutered.

by the way, do they microchip or tattoo cats over there? i'm kicking myself for not having had our cat microchipped confused

good luck - if you can't find his owners, at least we know he's found a very nice new home! nod

hmm, someone should have reported him missing by now

perhaps it belongs to some old lady who died and the
people who cleared out her house just didn't bother
to take the cat with them.

i mean, if it belongs with someone who really cares
for it, they would have come looking for it, or put
up posters or reported it to vets and such.

i'd say just take him in if you feel like it. if the
owner shows up you can always give him back. if not,
you've got one adorable kitty right there

I allready putted up some ads at the local supermarket, no one responded.

And yes they do microchip pets overhere but he hasn't been neutral

He has a leash and there was a little bell on it (which i removed, not the leash just the bell)

He's starting to be more trustfull now and let me pick him up mushy
He comes to my house two times a day and comes in and eats the leftovers from my own cat giggle
Today was the first day that he stayed in my garden and slept in the sun..

I'll give it two more weeks since the weather is nice smile

Thx for the comment on he finding a good home hug

But what if it's just a very smart cat that knows that he gets some extra food like beef and fresh fish here?

Ok I'll admit I give my own cat that also and he takes the leftovers..

My own cat accepts him but every now and then he lashes out to him, not that that scares him..he's a brave little one lol

He is really beautiful. smile

I agree with this, except if it were me, and I could afford it, I'd have him neutered right now. If his people then decide to claim him and they don't like it, too bad, they should have kept him inside. I would have a very tough time returning an intact cat to people who let him roam.

That's why I waited with getting him inside plus before i take him in I want to see a vet first with him... I allready lost another kitten when I was younger because it was sick and it almost costed the life of the cat I allready owned sad

I'm a sucker for disowned kittens redface

Even if the kitty is wearing a collar, it could still well be homeless.

It looks like it has got past the fluffy, tiny, sit in the palm of your hand cuteness and moved onto the young and helpless but more independant stage of its life. For some people this is when their new kitten becomes boring and they throw it out.

Sad but true. Although its landed on its feet now!

So it's mine now? smile woot!

I know I have to train him because he's a very bold/cheeky little one giggle and he needs to be castrated nod

But before I will spend some money on this I need to be sure that no one can claims him.

Keep him!

Or at least see if anyone claims him - if not, I reckon he has a new Mommy. smile

When I was a kid, my mother saw a tiny puppy looking all lost and confused, roaming the lane next to my house. It was also November 6th which is the day after Bonfire Night - lots of scary fireworks - so the poor thing was taken in by us.

We put a note up in the window, told the police, and no-one came to collect her. And 14 years later she was still part of the family. mushy

So if you love him that much, look after him in the meantime and - if the owner turns up - at least you've done a good job; if they don't - you've got yourself a cute little kitty. thumbs up!

Hello sweetheart!

I thought abt cutting of his collar (thx sj1600 lol) but I hesitated because there could be kids within that family that miss him so I only took off his bell.

He's again sleeping in my garden now mushy but I know he will ruin some things in my home if i take him in...but that's what kittens do when they are young smile

Arghhh!!! I want to take care of him! nod

yes at this point I would take him to the vet for the works, then if someone shows up then you can present them with the bill, only reponsible pet owners would want to pay you back, that way if someone does show up you will know that he is cared for, if not they will probably just give you the cat anyway.

congratulations on the new addition to the family.

BEER ROASTED CAT
1 cat cut into roast
1 can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup
1 cube of beef bouillon
1 clove of garlic
1 Fine Irish Stout, like Guinness

Cover and soak cat roast in salt water for 24 hours. Drain water and then cover and soak in beer for 6 hours. Drain and place in crock pot with your cans of soup. Add a clove of garlic, and a cube of beef bouillon. If you start to slow cook your cat in the morning with your George Foreman Cooker (or it's ilk), you'll have finely cooked feline in time for supper.

If a slow cooker is not available, a cat can be baked at 350 degrees for 2-3 hours in a conventional oven and still come out pretty good. Beer Roasted Cat is fantastic served with mashed potatoes, collard greens, and fresh, homemade egg rolls. When planning a full meal just remember- cat is a course best served hot!

Cat may not be the most glamorous, or tastiest of game meats, but with a little thought and preparation, Baked Cat can make the belly of the persnicketiest diner glow with home baked goodness.

no silly! not the beer part, it's just that cats are not snackfood!

we do not "throw a few kittens on the barbie", fire up the grill and "fry us a few cats" nor do we "shake 'n bake" members of the feline family. we just don't
