I'm not addicted to it, but if I catch it on the telly, I'll sit and watch.

I like the neighbour. She's called Sharon, isn't she?

That's her! Her subservient lap-dog friendship with Kim makes me cringe - because it reminds me of me at times! It's good to laugh at these things though, I suppose.

I love the show but I always wonder what non Aussies see in the show. There are sooooo many cultural references in the show.
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

They are a take-off of outer suburban, lower middle class, Aussie stereotypes. They live in a new "suburb" hours out of the city that is all centred around their shopping mall.

They are taking the piss out of all those stupid, made up, ridiculous names that people give babies these days (because their babies are "special").

Kath and Kim are what we call "Westies" or "Bogans". A lot of people like that like to call their children strange exotic names for some reason. lol

When I was first in Sydney, I watched some Aussie show about some police station in some small town...or something...um, I think there was the head guy and then one male and one female detective below him(??)...Anyway lol...the show was actually very good, even though half the shit being said just bounced off my skull.. lol...the references and slang went right over my head.

It was an episode where a bakery or restaurant burned down and the head detective was trying to figure out if the owner did it on purpose, or if his son did it because he didn't want to stay in the family business anymore, or if the owner's partner did it because he wanted to sell the business and take his share of the money...does any of that sound even slightly familiar?? lol confused
