Bluebook - register of socially prominent people
The Blues (capitalized) - popular style of music sometimes characterized by melancholy melodies and words
Baby blues - Blue eyes

Bad blue
Feeling blue - feeling sad or depressed
Blue devils - feelings of depression
The blues (not capitalized) - depression, state of sadness
Blue Monday - feeling sad
Baby blues - post-partum depression
Singing the blues - bemoaning one's circumstances
Blue laws - laws originally intended to enforce certain moral standards
Blue language - profanity
Bluenose - puritanical individual
Into the blue - entering the unknown or escape to parts unknown

A sample of my feelings re:
"The Color Blue"

sometimes i feel blue
on monday mornings off to work
me in my car...not knowing if it's really what i want to do.
should i call in sick and take a day off for myself
go to the beach...
to let the blue sky rejuvenate my spirit
and listen to me think..
other times i turn on my blue music
and listen to stevie ray vaughan singing
about his day in the color of his country blues.
i let him wrap me in the rural rhythms
of his soulful sounds and guitar tunes.
sometimes i recall surprises that
come out of the blue
an award for something forgotten
that someone gave me a tribute
and expressed that it was long past due.
or unexpected monies from an overpayment
or from my mom just to say "i love you."
blue has many meanings
to me as it most likely does to you.

on how it affects the inner you.
