Sleepwalking!

Has anyone ever sleepwalked? Or witnessed someone doing it?

I think I might have started! I did it once about 7 years ago, and all I did was wander into the living room where my Mum was, mumble something incoherent and go back to bed!

But in the last couple of weeks I've been pretty stressed, and I've noticed I've slept very restlessly. I usually stay still all night but I've been moving around and waking up a lot. I thought it was just because I was too hot, but now I'm not so sure!

Last week, a big red mark appeared on my forehead, and one on my lip too. Wasnt sore but then it started blistering, like a burn! I have absolutely no idea where it came from, apart from the fact that it looks suspiciously like I did it with the hair straighteners. I had almost dismissed it but this morning I found a big, and painful, scratch across my butt, which I also have no idea where it came from!!!

SO Im thinking Ive been sleepwalking. Havent had a chance to ask my roomate if he's heard anything funny, but I think I might hide my straighteners away somewhere eek This "burn" on my forehead is really big and looks ridiculous!

Anyone care to share any experiences or advice?!

I did. When I was still living at home my mom said I made a cheese sandwich and put it in the microwave to melt the cheese. She took me by the arm and led me back to my bed. The next morning she told me about what happened and I did not believe her. I have no memory of doing this.

I don't know if I ate it neutral and my mother never mentioned if I did. And I still don't believe her to this day that I sleep walked.

This is so embarrassing....

I walked into my brother's room and stood by his bed for a few seconds, scared the shit out of him. Then just turned around and went back to bed. Only problem, as reported in a previous thread, I sleep nekkid ... argggghhhh!!

shake

I also did the same thing to my parents. Fortunately, winter and was wearing something. This was a long time ago and appears to have stopped .... thank God!

I did this a lot when I was a teenager.
I still hold conversations with people when I'm asleep and don't remember it the next day.
Do you have something really bothering you now? Maybe something from the past?
If you need to work through something it could be a catalyst for sleepwalking.
You should definitely put away the hair straighteners and wear something when you sleep cause you don't know where you'll end up walking, the problem is that you are capable of doing almost anything in your sleep. It can be scary.
If it keeps up, you might want to consult a doctor.

God, what if I got up and started cooking! eek I think its just something that will pass though, I dont think Ill start doing it often. At least I hope not...

No, i usually sleep soundly!! Though when i was a kid, my mum once came to check up on me and she said she found me sitting up and sleeping eek that's pretty weird, considering i went through a rather funny phase where i used to cross my arms over my chest to ward away evil spirits cause i thought someone was gonna get me!! I used to watch too many crime-based shows disbelief

I forgot to say: -

The reason I began sleepwalking was due to stress. My Mum was ill and although I felt that I had come to terms with it and was over the initial shock at night I was wandering around. I would imagine that although you feel that you are not worried any more that something is bothering you. Try to pinpoint what has changed recently in your life.

Any unresolved issues?

Hope this pscho-babble isn't completely useless!!

Alun and Tisse, thanks guys grouphug I will try to be careful but I dont really know what I can do! Apart from hide the straighteners.... My Mum suggested putting a bit of thread across my door at waist height to see if I went out, but I could be doing all this in my room! I dont really know what to do...except try to be less stressed and maybe drink camomile tea more....Or find a boyfriend! lol hug thanks you pair rose

hug no, its not useless! The time I did it years ago was not long after my Dad died, but I was having a rough time at school and in general anyway. And there are some things bothering me just now, and I guess theyre constantly on my mind without me knowing it. I will try to resolve them a little, sort stuff out, maybe thatll help... confused

Thanks rose

lol No! But he would be able to see if I do it or not!! Seriously though, I dont sleep very well on my own, I dont know why because I used to be fine, but in the last 6 months or so I've been sleeping with the light on half the time! I just cant relax, my mind plays tricks on me. I think Im just not used to this flat yet (ive been here 8 months!) Im much more relaxed when Im not alone, so then I dont think Id do it!

It could be many things - stress, diet, maybe you need to adjust your sleeping patterns.

Try a Horlicks tonight (I know that makes me sound like Grandpops but hey smile) and see how you feel. I hope you get a decent night's sleep. hug
