How much water can one safely drink in a day?

I ask because a friend just challenged me to drink an entire lake.

The prize is a gold bar and the heart of the fair maiden, Gun-Bird.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Little babies can drink too much water; so much so that it will thin their blood.

If adults drink too much water it can mess up the electrolyte balance and cause heart issues.

And lake water...better not...it probably has fish doody in it.

Would you consider an entire lake too much, or maybe just a tad excessive, but still okay?

My plan is to be dropped into the center of the lake wearing cement shoes, and then to suck in all the water once I hit the bottom. One gulp, and both the gold and the girl are mine.

Leah Betts may be the most well-known case. After taking a pill of MDMA ("ecstasy"), she drank about seven liters of water in less than 90 minutes. shocked Initially her death was attributed to the MDMA, but later it was determined that she died of water intoxication.

I think a lake is probably way more than seven liters. sad

I am sorry, Gun-Bird. I was so close.

The same thing happened to some girl in Colorado while I was in college I think... she was a local high school student and died of water intoxication after drinking too much water after taking ecstacy....
