Please do not install programs to view who is looking at your page on your MySpace site..

They are ingenious little programs that let you see who's been peeking at your MySpace site, but the huge downside is that it IS spyware and creating an open door to your computer as a platform for hackers. Even if you have a firewall in place or a hardwired router...you have now done their job for them by happily copying and pasting the code into your myspace. As soon as you copy and paste the code into your profile, hackers now have full access to your IP address and the IP address of anyone who is on your site.

For example, one of my MySpace buddies was getting numerous page views or hits from an IP in Thompson, MB, (thought someone there might be especially fond of him for all the hits he was getting) and sent the IP number to me. I did a bit of digging and that address was not in Thompson at all! It was some hacker in Malaysia! This is an ultra creepy way for sickos to essentially hijack or use your computer for things like distribution of kiddy porn, etc. When the authorities try tracking the IP to see where the smut came from.....it shows up as coming from your IP/computer location and not the person actually posting the kiddy (NOT KITTY) porn! Well you get the idea.

Now everyone get in there and erase the code you've inserted into your profile. Heck...do you really need to know who's looking at your profile so badly that you are willing to leave a backdoor open to anything and everything personal on your computer's harddrive (think banking information)...I think not...

I'm new to myspace with no orgers. I only have 10 peeps with 7 whom I've known for years, even if I never met in person. Would love to have an org friend or two or 10.
