OK, I finally saw it.
They're (the writers) really starting to grasp at strings now.

1) If John Locke was such a good tracker in the season 1 as he was being portrayed when he and Boone had their little scouting trips to "catch pigs", why didn't Locke noticed the large salted circle near the plane? I mean, come on, it would've looked like a large circular racing track rolleyes

2) What's with this religious thing anyways? They're starting to make this show feel like it's a Michael Landon show. Also, why use the word "Dharma?" which is the word and teaching of the Buddha to signify the intiative and why mix it with neo-Abrahamic religious symbolism? What are they getting at? It's starting to feel like the religious crap in the Matrix that didn't amount to anything more than just a thin pseudo-mystical religious veil.

3) Again, Ecko, is a driven man. A determined man. But still very much a one dimensional freak. Even Locke is more well rounded than he is. Why give so much air time to someone they can't develope better? I mean, at least with Anna Lucia, they (The writers) threw their arms up and killed the bitch off. Ecko just keeps pushing the plot towards a meaningless meandering river like Moses in a basket. And they've offered very little to make us understand him as a protagonist. Sure he was taken away as a little boy, etc.--but he still comes off as one dimensional much like Anna (or Boone from season 1).

4) The sense of isolation on the Island is gone. There are these TVs, monitoring stations, "The others', etc. The problem with all this is the viewer is not given enough of the elements that make the show intriguing. First, they're stuck on an island after a mysterious plane crash in which none of the survivors is seriously injured. How can a plane just dissapear like that without a massive rescue operation? Why havent' they been contacted? If Syed can make a ham radio work with a screwdriver and some spit, why can't he do something with all the equipment in any of the bunkers? Why isn't he trying? Why aren't they talking about it?

5) Why is Sawyer the only one getting laid other than Rose and her husband? Kate needs to get busy!

6) Finally, I just don't see how this formula can hold up for 5 or 6 seasons. I don't want LOST to be a 2 or 3 season affair, so they need to enhance the formula, but not so much to the point of losing it's original appeal. And I can't offer any real solutions. I just sit here and bitch about an otherwise brilliant show. sigh

I can't believe a T.V. show has got me hooked mad
I used to pride myself and hating T.V.

I assumed Kate has been banging Sawyer. At least until very recently.

No, if she bangs anyone she'll pop Jack's cherry.

Oh come on! She nursed him back from death, caused a rift with Jack by choosing Sawyer, and she hangs out in his tent. She banged him. lol

I was thinking the same thing. I mean He should have noticed it whilst scouting around. I have a theroy though. In the episode that they discover the plane, Locke sees it in a dream. He also loses functionality in his legs (never explained except that it got Boone to go up in the plane...Did Locke Lie?) But I recall Locke NOT walking around the area at all. In fact as soon as they saw the plane it was all about that. They were distracted. And then the plane falls on the hatch doors. And Boone is hurt etc etc...

Faith/Spirituality (Not exactly religion) is a huge theme to the show. So is Duality. If you think about it, I could see why Faith would enter a show like this. Well it is "The Dharma Initiative" which incorporats the Ying/Yang/ Dharma theme into it's own belief system. If one delves further into what the Hanso Foundation and more importantly the Dharma initiative, you can draw parellells to Buddism. Check out wwww.thehansofoundation.org the whole look and feel of that site, to me is very spiritual like. Personally, I don't think they are hammering away the religious theme that much.

3) Again, Ecko, is a driven man. A determined man. But still very much a one dimensional freak. Even Locke is more well rounded than he is. Dude, MANY of the fans LOVE Eko. Personnaly I think he was the best addition to the show. And the producers did not "throw up their arms" with Ana. SHe was contracted for just a year (her choice) and wanted a meaty part..she got it.THe things Eko is doing are not meaningless.

4) The sense of isolation on the Island is gone. There are these TVs, monitoring stations, "The others', etc. The problem with all this is the viewer is not given enough of the elements that make the show intriguing. I think we've "Lost" you as a fan then. As Henry Gale (or Non Henry Gale) said Not even God knows we're here. There HAS been a massive search party outside the island. One - they are way off course. Two - Oceanic Airlines has gone out of business and has a huge lawsuit against them because of the "disappearance" of Flight 815. Syied cannot get any of the radios to work anymore. Pretty much given up on that.

5) Why is Sawyer the only one getting laid other than Rose and her husband? Kate needs to get busy!
SYied got busy. Apparently Jin and Sun did too.

6) Finally, I just don't see how this formula can hold up for 5 or 6 seasons. sigh yes. I actually moderate a "tribe" that's all about that. Pretty involved and deep deep deep. Like there have been Morse Code messages as well as ASCII number decodings.

A GREAT recap of everything so far...really this is an awesome read...

Byron

Do you think the Gary Troup=Purgatory thing is a clue or just that they used the letters from "purgatory" to create a character's name?...

I think now...they are giving easter eggs and purposefully dropping in "hints" like that.

If one takes the word purgatory as literal...I don't think that's where this is going. I look at Pugatory as an "inbetween" place. I think if you look at it from that point of view. It makes a bit more sense. They are definitly "inbetween" something or somewhere. I do believe they are experiencing a pugatory of sorts...but not in the real sense.

Now Gary is presumed to be dead as they read his name (I think) during the memorial service. Is he dead. Maybe he's in some "inbetween" place right now.
