I don't normally post in GD and I even think this is my first thread in GD so far... I guess I'm a bit of a lurker around these parts
Anywho, I want to ask y'all a question... Come on, confess! Who here has done the troll thing, either on this site or other messageboards? Who has made up a crazy character just to piss some people off (and probably amuse others) or just for fun?
OK, I'll answer first... I've never really acted as a troll on ANY msgboard... probably the closest thing to it was in some kind of voice chat room (I think on Yahoo) around '99 or 2000, when this kinda stuff was relatively new.... There was a regular chat alongside an "open mic" where only one person could speak at a time... I listened while some people were talking and I heard some very stereotypical accents, both from the UK and USA.... You have to remember, to a certain 17 year old (at the time) Icelander this was hilarious... So I mocked them and imitated their accents and made fun of the people who were censoring themselves while speaking... People were not pleased ... I think one person said I sounded like Bill Clinton when I did the "American accent" ... That was the first and last time I went to that chatroom

i've never created a troll account, but i've created plenty of dumb alter ego accounts on here, and i usually get figured out pretty quickly and then i delete them. my most successful was BrianFellows, and that was just sheer stupidity on parade. i mean, even worse than when i post as myself.

not my style.

I can barely be myself some days, it would be murder pretending to be someone else.

This place is a magical wonderland filled with all sorts of trolls, orgers & fairies.

Any time I have entertained becoming a troll I decide against it because I want all the glory to myself for any shenanigans I get up to

I made a new account that I was planning to switch over to, at 10,000, but I missed it.

At first, I thought using alternate accounts was lame. But Captain Chaos made me see the error of my ways. While some people might be trying to stir shit up, I prefer to think they are just being themselves. Assholes.
