Growing up... At what point did you 'grow up'?
At what point did you become a man or a woman? Have you grown up yet? Was there a specific event? These'll probably seem like weird questions but something I posted yesterday reminded of a few things. A few weeks back, I went to see the George Michael documentary, 'A Different Story', and - at one point - he discusses the exact moment that he 'grew up'. I can't remember the precise details but I'm pretty sure it was in the week his mother died. He described how, overnight, his whole outlook changed and he became a man, so to speak. Yesterday, I posted something about one of my mates and described her a 'girl'. This 'girl' is 32 in October but - even though it's just a phrase - at what point does this become redundant? I always remember, years ago - when I used to work in this shop - I'd be on the cash desk and some Mum or Dad would come in with their kids and say "Give the money to the man". I'd be, like, '"Where?? Where's this man??!" almost and, of course, they meant me. Maybe that says a whole lot more about me, perhaps. So at what point did you grow up?

You lost me at "George Michael Documentary"....
In all seriousness...it was day 2 of basic training in the Air Force.... everything changed for me that day on... (I was almost 19)...

I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to answer this question but - if I had to choose an event - I'd say the ball started rolling when I went to Uni.

The day I opened up my mouth to my grandmother and told her to mind her business when it comes to raising my kids.

I'd have to say the same as George did, actually... the day my Mum died my life did a complete and utter 360 degree change that day and hasn't really stopped much since
this... from someone who doesn't deal well at all with change

this... from someone who doesn't deal well at all with change I'm not sure I know anyone who thrives on change, hun. You're not alone. But looking at the woman you turned out to be, I think your Mum would be VERY proud.

And you're absolutely right.

I'm gonna be 80 years old, living in Kook Mansions, sucking on lollipops and still sliding down bannisters.
