How to edit mpegs? Anyone know of some freeware to just do some simple editing of MPEG files? I have made mpeg files on my PC of stuff I recorded on my DVR, now I just want to edit out the commercials and unwanted parts of the shows.
Help please!! | |

I have never seen that on my PC Ariel. XP came preinstalled on my Sony VAIO. They have a program called "Movieshaker" that I am about to install from my Application Recovery Discs, I'm hoping that will do the trick. I mean, all I want to do is chop and delete parts of the file, nothing complicated or anything.

Looks like my computer came bundled with Adobe Premiere 6 LE, I think it will do what I need, now I'm going to see if I can figure it out.....

Premiere is one of the leading programs for video editing. Even though it's an LE version, I'm sure it can do more than a few things.

actually, I found the windows movie maker program, i had it all along. It's done just what I wanted. However, I've created a title shot, but I'd like to overlay it on the clip as it starts playing, you know, just like a music video, to show the artist and name of the song. Is there an easy way to do this?

All I ever did with it is edit something once, and fix the contrast. I'm pretty sure you can add a title, though I don't know how. If not, use the Premiere.

I just figured it out! This is kind of fun. I've had the 2004 Billboard Music Awards show as a file on this computer forever. I now cut the performances I wanted out, added an overlay title screen and made files of them. I rock!! Here's the first one I did, it's Green Day! http://www.yousendit.com/...1C093403B8

When editing video, I've used a combination of Windows Movie Maker and Adobe Premiere Pro. WMM to edit down clips, and APP to refine them and put them together.

APP scared me. I opened it and it just looked intimidating.

APP scared me. I opened it and it just looked intimidating. It can look intimidating, but if you play around with it and try some of the options it really is pretty simple.
