isnt it strange when.... you call someone who has gone through a divorce (like last year) and on their voice message, its still their ex husband/wife talking ????
everytime i call my sister, i hear her ex on the phone.... and everytime, i say, 'girl, you need to change that shit'... whats up with that ???? One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111

Some women have male voices on their answering machine so a potential idiot figures the woman does not live alone (safety thing). Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! I'd rather use the default recording than use one of my own. A roommate of mine had one that came with his answering machine that sounded like a cheap version of RoboCop.
Seriously, though, I'm glad my mom was using the default one after my dad died. That would have been too hard to deal with.

I did have a few funy ones made up while in college. I recorded some dialog off of the movie "Batman", then added some of my own:
Criminal: "Don't kill me, man! Don't kill me! Don't kill me, man!" Batman: "I'm not going to kill you, but I want you to do me a favor. I want you to tell all your friends about me." Criminal: "What are you???" Batman: "I'm Todd, and I can't come to the phone right now, but if you leave your name and number I'll get back to you when I can." (cue Danny Elfman Batman music)

Maybe she just feels it too difficult to take that last step, because if hes gone and shes with someone else thats probably the last thing she has left of him. Maybe thats just too hard for her, even if she is over it

She could always have another dude record her greeting, if she's worried about projecting a single-woman image.
A single friend of mine's greeting says, "thank you for calling us. We're unable to come to the phone..."

A single friend of mine's greeting says, "thank you for calling us. We're unable to come to the phone..." that's not a bad idea .. but then I'd be mumbling gibberish when ppl ask me, "who's the other person?"

i totally understand the single woman living alone thing... really i do
but think about it - she has children (preteen and teenage) that would have to leave a message on that phone to sometimes... plus, what about when the ex calls the house and gets the machine... hearing your own voice on there like youre a happy family ??? its just weird One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111

Ya, she needs to 86 that shit. It's long overdue.
My friend's mom still has her dead husband's voice on the answering machine. He's been dead for years now and it's just weird. I mean I know it's hard to let go...but save the tape for yourself. It's so creepy to hear him.
