i'm addicted to sea salt these days. i've become such a food snob over the past few years, but screw it - gotta spend your money on SOMEthing.

i saw a black hawaiian sea salt at trader joe's last weekend. i nearly bought it, but the only reason i wanted it was because it was weird, so i put it back. pout

I started to buy the weird spices for new dishes I wanted to try but after the Saffron fiasco of 2000, I stopped! lol I fucked up thirty bucks worth of Saffron on this Indian dish. I will stick with shit I know like Mexican, Creole, Italian, Southern, some Chinese dishes and European types of stuff.

I have yet to have a request for Indian dishes when I cater! lol

falloff That is happening to me too...and the bad thing is that I don't go often (it's about a 30 minute drive for me) so WHEN I go I'm buying everything under the sun. I saw something on the food network about that black salt...it's black from lava, I think.

i'm scared to make an indian dish from scratch, and i love the stuff! i have some curry powders and i mix them with a rue sauce and some veggies and sauteed tofu and serve it over rice, but i'd hardly call that a genuine indian dish. for a veggie dish, it'll put meat on your bones, though.
