I'm a huge SK fan and this one was a nice change and well written. I am currently reading the second book from the Earths Children series called "Valley of the Horses". Very good book and great series.

Very good book and great series. SK's Salem's Lot was the first full length novel I ever read when I was young. Man that book scared me half to death.

I never saw the movie, nor have I seen the play in NYC....I need to do both of those things. I love to read..... "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive."

I'm jumping (as usual) between about 3 books:
"The Life of Pi" by Yann Martel "Young Goodman Brown, and Other Short Stories" by Nathaniel Hawthorne "The Nobel Lecture in Literature, 1993" by Toni Morrison OH! and I almost, ALWAYS, have some tattered, beat up paperback by Erica Jong stashed away in a purse or knapsack for reading impromptu on the subway [Edited 5/4/06 14:20pm]

I'm reading 'The Night Buffalo' by Guillermo Arriaga. He's the guy wrote the scripts for 'Amores Perros', '21 Grams' and 'The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada'. It's a fantastic novel.

I forgot to mention that I'm also constantly reading my boyfriend's collection of old 1960s and 70s Playboys that he has stashed away. I read them for the articles and short stories - really! There's hardly any nudity at all! I mean, like, where is the sun?

I was supposed to read A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthurs Court for an advanced English class in, I think, 10th grade and I just... couldn't... do it. I couldn't read it. I hated it so much. And I never attempted to read anything by him again. Now, all these years later, maybe my perspective would be different. But I've been firmly against him for years. |

and I am LOVING it I've read this book every year, around Christmas, since it was released in 1992...It's my bible. "Does such a thing as the fatal flaw--that showy dark crack running down the middle of life-- exist outside of literature, I used to think it didn't and I think it does and mine is this: a morbid longing for the picturesque at all costs..." I love Henry Marchbanks Winter!!!!! "...literal people are scary, man literal people scare me out there trying to rid the world of its poetry while getting it wrong fundamentally down at the church of "look, it says right here, see!" - ani difranco
