Happy with your job?

I'm now almost halfway through my study and the task of finding a job comes closer each day (or at least the decision which direction I want to take).
I cannot say that I'm the most optimistic person in that regard, really. I also don't know if I will be happy each day with the kind of job I will propably have... I guess most people aren't, but still...
Did you know what you wanted early on and went through with it? Do you like getting up in the morning and going to work? Did you choose your education/job because of the economical chances or because of your preferences?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

BTW, this might be NSFW, depending on how you answer! wink

I'm bored with my job. I hate getting up in the morning to get here, and I can't wait to leave the second I start.

u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,

I am not crazy about my job but I really like the atmosphere, most of my co-workers and the flexibility I have. Once I get my license I will be able to counsel full time, but I am not sure if I would leave here for another stressful place ya know?

I'd like more responsibilities, higher pay, and a job that's more relevant to my skills. So I guess the answer is no. However, it allows me to post on the Org quite a bit. razz

I started a new job today and so far I LOVE it! woot!

I have a window, even. That made me most happy. lol

Its not the end-all be-all of what I want to be doing, but it'll get me through till I am doing that. I'm starting school in the fall and I'm about 85% sure I want to teach. So this will get me by until I'm done with school and ready for all that.

yay!

I'm on the 5th floor of City Center. The view is of a bunch of other buildings, but it's decent. smile

I've spent a quarter of my life working for the same company and I'm bored. I started off as an analyst and have ended up on a call-centre. I've been passed over for promotions more times than I'd care to remember. My boss is four years younger than me and knows virtually nothing about the work we do. I really need to leave. I don't even want to work in an office anymore.

But you have to look to find it, so you're doing the right things. smile

I face Nicollet. So that's, er... east. I can see the IDS, the Foshay tower, Gavidae, and all the other big tall buildings in Mpls. It's nice. smile

That would be a nice view. I suppose the windows on the west face Target Center and First Avenue, right?

After working at my current place for 10 months I was promoted to what I thought would be very close to my dream job. But it's not. sad That makes me nervous b/c what I'm doing is exactly what I thought I wanted to do for the past 4-5 years (and the reason I went to grad school). I don't know if I was wrong, or it's the company, or my supervisor but I dread coming to work now...

I hope it's a combination of the latter two, b/c if it's the first, I've wasted a lot of time and money to be unhappy and I have NO idea what other kind of job I'd want.

I think it's a rare and lucky person who loves absolutely every detail about their job, but you shouldn't be absolutely miserable either. 40+ hours/week is too much of your life to be unhappy. You have to compromise and decide what you will/will not put up with; whether it's low pay, shitty co-workers, long hours, or something else.

Good luck with the job search!
