I was almost Eleanor, Matthew for a boy Those were my dad's choices and my mom was whipped out on my dad and wanted to name me after him. I have 3 very strong Catholic names....Richard Thomas Patrick. Thomas was the middle name my mother wanted and I was born on St. Patrick's Day so my grandmother insisted that my mom add it. I do wish that my birthname was Ra tho It is so much more unique than Richard and I am a very unique person so it would have been very fitting. Plus my last name is Corona and since the Sun has a corona, Ra after the Sun god would have just been a perfect combination But the name Richard is derived from the germanic form of King so literally translated my name is King's Crown 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

My Mother wanted to name me those (Dieter / Hans) because she is German, My fathers family came from England so they were not over keen, strangely enough I have only one sister with a direct "Germanic" name and that is Hiedi (or Dougal as I call her!!) all my other brothers and sisters have 'standard' names !!

I wouldve almost certainly been Patrick if I were a boy too, also coming from a Catholic family, and my grandparents being Irish! As it stands Im named after my grandmother. thats really interesting stuff, I guess they couldnt have predicted which name would suit you more as you got older though...
