Macs aren't crap. It's just that they're just more expensive and less expandible PCs these days, and people fall into their very naive marketing strategies where they are constantly mixing up the benefits from the OS, Window managers and component manufacturers. They can't attack just Microsoft alone, they have to attack the whole PC industry on the whole, because they themselves have all the decision power anything concerning the usage of Macintosh computers. I think the link Milty posted earlier is a pretty good indication on what kind of customer base they are targeting at mainly. "It just works" for them - they don't need to know more, or do much more with their computers.

I don't agree with you. Macs are good computers, they have always been. Which is the reason why they managed to sustain their position as the only rival for PCs throughout the decades when other machines dropped out from the competition. However, I do strongly detest that "get a Mac, it's so much better than a PC"-attitude that most Macintosh users have, because quite obviously they usually know very little about how computers work in general and have bought a very expensive computer on the basis of brand marketing that offers a certain image for the customer upon the purchase of their product (I mean just look at those above ads, they're ridiculous). That's still all acceptable, but suggesting others who have problems with their PCs to do the same and spend the extra cash at every possible occasion when somebody is displeased with how their PCs work is a bit stupid. SammiJ originally asked about problems with her unregistered copy of Windows XP that were due to the fact that it was indeed an unregistered version of the software, and Milty's solution to the problem was "get a Mac". Does that make any sense? The reason why people have unregistered copies of Windows is that they don't want to pay for an OS as they don't have that much money, so the solution offered is to get a machine that is double the price or even more?
