either mexico or andaluasia..i remember seeing the fireflies..
i remember that it was very surreal-beautiful..they would be blue and green..at first i used to think they were fairies..actually speaking of fairies..who believes in fairies?..whats the different between a fairy and a pixie? or dwarf and a troll...

i used to have fireflies in my backyard in brooklyn. it was a great escape to go out back and watch them, it was almost like i wasn't in the city for a millisecond. but then someone's car alarm would go off...

When my mama and her sisters were little, they used to catch them and put them on their earlobes so they'd light up light glow in the dark earrings. smile I see them a lot here during the summer.

i had to go live on an island on a lake in northwestern ontario
before i saw my first firefly. i saw lights going back and forth
over the lake and thought it was someone was out boating in
the middle of the night. i was really puzzled until i saw one
fly closer and i realized what it was idea

omfg that was ten years ago already!

I love fireflies! Used to catch them in jars when I was little, with holes in the lid so that they could get some air. And some grass in the bottom so they had something to "eat". giggle
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

ah, yes...when i was a kid i used to catch fireflies...i think we called them lightning bugs, though. i would catch them between my hands and watch them glow, and then i'd let them go. they weren't terribly alarmed by this - they'd usually crawl around on my hands and arms for a while and then buzz off. i'm glad i grew up in the country - i never had a shortage of fireflies, praying mantises, stick bugs, fuzzy caterpillars, etc. to play with. giggle
